Title: Retro LED unit/New LED unit
Post by: 3Deep on July 15, 2014, 10:58:28 AM
I've seen a couple post already with a couple guys here doing there led unit, with all the hype it seem that the LED exposure is for sure the way to go.  Right now tossing my unit out the door to spend money on a LED is out of the question just to keep up with the Jones, but I would spend a few hundred to convert my unit into a LED unit.  I was looking at my exposure box this morning and it would be perfect to drop a grid of LED lights in and just plug them in.  If someone built such monsters would you convert your old exposure into an LED unit or just buy a brand new LED unit? I can see a market for this depending on price.

Logoman's thread  (http://www.theshirtboard.com/index.php/topic,12346.0.html)right here in Equipment just before this one, is documenting his switch over to the Vastex Retro-Fit LED unit (http://www.vastex.com/News-Releases/BB-1161_LED-Retrofit-Kit.php)

I saw that one Frog but it didn't seem to cover the whole bottom with lights, just a few rows...

I assume that they are available in different sizes. Of course, price will grow proportionately, and your few hundred could become a FEW hundred

Yes there are several size kits available.  Kits for the 2124, 2331, and while it is not on the price list they make the 4731 LED exposure unit so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to convert that as well.

I'd love to see one to go with my 3140!

I think M&R makes a kit to go LED for MSP3140, Rich was just talking about in another thread. No glass retrofit. Is that what you are talking about?

No. People who are using film will want to convert to direct to screen imaging in the near future and the Starlight has glass and vacuum which will not be needed. We have made a kit for people to transform the Starlight to DTS not using glass and vacuum. makes the unit grow with you.
