Looking for some "oversized" sleeve palettes. 6 or 7 inchs wide -- any thoughts? thank you
-
That size is usually called leg or baby pallets, ours are 7" wide. Haven't seen any used ones around lately but they do pop up from time to time.
-
I got two used from another board member a few months ago that were 6"x22". I use them a lot for things like onesies, some bags/backpacks, etc. Great size to have.
Not to derail, but I am actually about to buy a 4 set of 8"x22" from Action I think, unless someone has some used for sale in good condition. I want to buy a koozie platen as well, but I want a custom made with 8 "teeth", 4 on each side, vs. 4 on the end. 4 piece minimum on those, but I really only need one. If anyone else want's to go in on getting those made let me know :D

Here's a link to some 6" pallets for sale on digitsmith:

Has anyone ever ordered pallets from that guy. He seems to ALWAYS have tons of every size for a good bit less than anyone else selling in bulk. Any idea where he is getting them or is he just making them and adding the rubber/bracket? Can anyone attest to the quality?

He may be refurbishing old ones. A quick clean/sand and some new rubber can bring most pallets back to life and make them look like new. The bottoms usually aren't shown in the photos so its tough to tell.

I'm mostly worried about whether they are warped, the brackets are properly adhered, thickness of the aluminum etc...
-
I ordered a sleeve platen, a 10" 'youth' and a 12" wide platen for my kruzer from him...
shipped on time, and they seem to be just as good quality as the M&R versions that came with the press.
perfectly flat, and even tho he says 'used', they seem to be brand new... no marks, major scuffs, or anything on the edges of the aluminum or brackets.
the bottom on one of them still even has the '6061-T651' stamp from the aluminum plate.
btw, I believe he'll 'make' whatever you'd like.
Happy customer here...

just went and mic'd one of his and one of the M&R..
his:
rubber 0.125"
aluminum 0.255"
M&R
rubber 0.125"
aluminum 0.265"
so his are definitely a bit thinner than the M&R ones, but only by about .01"
I can't tell how the bracket is adheared, other than that the area underneath the bracket appears to be scuffed with a sanding pad or something...
I haven't used them long enough or with heavy flashing to know if the brackets are going to un-adhear over time.

I think Rich knows something about him

thank you all....

I just got in a set of platens from him yesterday. He makes them. CNC. They are new. I believe he just lists them as used to get away with selling them on DS.
They are extremely nice. I'm very happy with my purchase. I will definitely be ordering more from him. The leg platens I ordered are 6" wide.

I bought 12 sleeve pallets and 4- 8x22's for my sportsman and they seem great to me. Plenty of flashing on the both of them and no issues. I would buy from the guy on digitsmith again.
