Title: flood bar rising
Post by: cleveprint on August 08, 2014, 01:59:16 PM
we have a diamondback and have been noticing that during runs our floodbar is rising up as we go. ill set it to where we are getting a good flood and 200-300 shirts later its a 1/4 inch off the screen. usually only on one side. is this a sign the chopper is going bad? i only notice it on the two heads we use the most, so i figure that could be the case. or is this something that is normal?

Not normal. Could be as simple as tightening a couple set screws on the black knobs that adjust the pressure or could be a cylinder going bad. I would guess the set screws. Call our service and they will tell you how to adjust properly or my cell.

I was going to say the same . almost every time I have an op come to me with this problem 90% of the time its the set screw.

Def the set screws, well, 96.5% sure.  Ours move if I don't have the set screws down tight enough.

I have it happen on my DB once and a while. Chop an un activated head down so that the pressure is off of that set of floods, then turn the knob see which one is loose, tighten the two allen screws a little. Probably should go around the machine one at a time and check them all, you are fortunate that they are going up on you. I've had it where the flood was going deeper and cut into a screen on a double stroke in the middle of a job and wreck half a day. I now check them all monthly just to be preventative of another episode like that.
