So I've been running my 4800 with 17" roll film with no issues. I changed to some 13" roll film I had around to use it up and my 4800 started wasting 6" of film before the print and 6" of film after the print. I cannot get it to stop. I went back to 17" film and it is still happening. I am using AccuRip, does anyone know what is happening or have a solution? Thanks!

Our 4880 only does this if we disengage and reengage the rollers that hold down the film, not sure how much difference there is between the 4880 and the 4800 though.

We have an Epson 4900 and print with a film roll.
I was looking at our positives today and noticed that on some of them we're just waisting A LOT of media. This is costing us too much money.
I spoke to my employee who prints and she told me that even though we're using rolls, the printing size is defined by Illustrator and that she can only choose from A4, A3, A3+. Is there any other way we can define when the paper is going to be cut (right after it's finished printing the image).
We're talking about 10cm (4") per print in some cases. Multiply this by "x" number of positives and in the end we're wasting 10/20% of the roll.
Anyone else has this problem? How can it be solved?

In illustrator print options, use custom page size. First make your art and art board size match and then in the print option, hit custom and at page size hit custom again and it will be the same size as your art board. You can also input the page size you want if it's different.

Really???? Ok in the print menu once the 4900 printer is selected, got to media size, custom make bigger than the print and good to go.
At least with cadlink rip and 4800. PC.

Custom will set it to the exact size as your artboard in Illustrator.

Brilliant! I will have my artist try this on monday. Feels great to "check" stuff off my list :)

Are you using your own registration marks or the illustrator ones?

Same problem, wasting film. On left chest print out it cuts a 15'' piece. I have my paper set in Corel custom at 15x13. What do the settings need to be in Corel x6????? Thanks

Not 100% sure but I believe it's Illustrator registration

Sportsshop - in the print menu, you just go in and change the custom page size each time. I used to use hot keys and center the art on your page, then adjust the page size to just a bit bigger than the art, and then in the print feature, you use postscript custom page size and type in the same value as the document page.

That worked JW, thanks for the imfo.....

Oddly enough, custom gets blocked once we choose the Epson 4900. We spent a whole hour around the issue and couldn't get it solved

Are you using a rip? AKA postscript. If not it wont. Make sure the printer known as a the rip printer is selected. If not using rip then I dont think you can. I may be wrong.

FIXED! Don't ask me how, it was already fixed when I got to the company this morning.
