-
You should see it standing up!!!
-
oh crap, I don't want too...it's so far up the earth it's sideways!!!
-
I am definitely going to make it up there this year!
-
It was great seeing you guys today!
-
And you're only four hours from me now. Welcome to the Midwest. At least it's warm right now

Great seeing you Patrick. That place is 100 times more impressive than we imagined. Other videos and pics of other plants I've seen online don't seem to measure up after this trip. That stryker is also some serious hardware. I'm still a little hyper, I'd a put a matress down between that big c3 and g3 and spent the night there. The custom built by m&r boilers were awesome, and the custom steel door with the cat opening for the live in cats was cool. I gotta say. No matter who you are a fan of. If you can, Go for a tour there. They really are for real. Allan would have been freaking out, cnc machines galore. I'm a stop for now lol.

Thank you both for visiting. It was great seeing you two again.

You can not be a true blue baller if you haven't been on the tour at M&R. You will not receive your official jacket until so.
-
crap, i want a jacket...is it screen printed though?

It's hand Screen Printed by 244, signed by all the M&R employees and each employee wears it for a day. It is mailed to a team at Everest that takes it to the top for a special event bringing it into this world. At that point it spends a long as 6 month on the Space Station which makes it really light weight.
There is more but I wont bore you with the details.
-
you sound like the Carbonaro effect..i love watching that guy explain how they put a bowling ball and basketball into the same small box to make it lighter
-
The ink is made from unicorn poop, jet fuel, and some filler. You cure the ink by softly singing George Michaels "Careless Whisper" to it, acapella. True story, its cool stuff.
-
Avoiding the dozens of forklifts in the cnc and laser cutting zone with Steve and Lauren.

I watched all the 20 plus vids they have of the tour..that place is INSANE!!!...awesome looking!!!..I'd love to see it in person one day....I just don't see myself ever making it up there from New Orleans.

Videos are great and you get a idea from that but it does not compare to in person. It's really amazing.

One thing I took away from my visits there is how Rich and his people are always looking for ways to save a second here and a second there. They study the traffic, work flow, tool changes, everything you can imagine. I try to do the same thing here, and ask my folks to do the same. Yesterday we made a simple change in how the art department saves comp sheets. His thinking was, it only saves us about 30 seconds a job. When we figured the savings over a year, it was over 80 hours!!! His eyes are now open wider. So one of Rich's business standards is one I try to follow as well. That's a nice take away for me from my visits. Thanks to Rich and everyone at M&R.

100% correct, the videos as awesome as they are can't even begin to give you the full scope of either location. We saw alphas, strykers You name it, looked like miles of ready to go gear labeled for deliveries all over the planet. Every person we encountered were so nice and professional. The precise robots and lasers, cnc machines, I'm talking dozens of machines fabricating, just awesome. The intense service department and how it works. Too much to type ya gotta go.

Rich thanks so much for taking the time to pull away from big business to go through the new technology. We so much appreciate you. Hey and we got to meet Marie Tosh and hang with Zimmer. Super cool folks.
-
Nice ;D

Did you promise her you would pay your bill on time! ;D

Once my boss and I got to spend a week there taking the preventative maintenance class with Francisco. Truly an impressive place.
That class was also amazing. You get carte blanche to ask the most detailed questions about any piece of equipment you'd like to learn everything about from experts. If he didn't know something (which was rare) we'd hit the factory floor and find someone who did.
We also got to see the construction of a custom super jumbo Alpha8...if my memory serves correct (and it likely doesn't) the pallets were 3" by 4" with an insanely giant flasher that dwarfs even the flasher we have for our jumbo pallets originally accommodated by 52" by 43" screens.
...Squeegee holders that stretched for miles...
It was like a combination Disney Land and Mecca of screen printing.
