Title: M3 Panel on MZX Frame
Post by: sqslabs on December 14, 2014, 01:50:03 PM
I mistakenly ordered a few M3 panels and stretched them on MZX frames before I realized what they were.  I figured this may affect the sweet spot of the screen but am not seeing much of a difference between these and my bolt mesh screens when measuring tension in different areas.  Is there a major downside to mismatching panels/frames?

There was a big argument/debate over this a while ago.  I know I've put MZX panels on M3 frames and others have done the opposite with no issues.  I know there will be a little discrepancy in the corner softening between the two frame types but as long as you're not pushing the limits on tension then I don't see it being a problem.

99% of the frames in my shop are 23x31 MZX...... But probably 50% are stretched with "m3" panels and we've never had any issues at all......

The M3 panels will fit into the MZX, the corners will be sloppy but OK

It's the mzx panels that don't fit to well into the m3 frames.
