Title: Moving - Shop Layout Suggestions
Post by: DannyGruninger on December 26, 2014, 05:59:55 PM
Alright guys, plenty of smart minds on here so I figured I'd post up this quick layout of my planned move coming up in feb. As I've mentioned in a few posts I recently went under contract that will be closing late Jan so I'm beginning the planning. I will be merging forces with another apparel company which I will now be managing along with my current company. I will actually be acquiring this companies name and dropping mine as they are a larger, more established company then what I have built USR to. With the acquisition of this company I will be going from 2 autos to 3 or 4, 5 heads of embroidery to 91 heads, adding a complete dye/wash plant, and in house sewing services. Since the expansion of embroidery is by far the largest I'm more concerned about that department then anything. I built the attached layout using the m&r tool rather quickly and haven't figured out a good way to export for web viewing so apologies for the blurriness of it. This layout is only showing the production side as I'll have another 6k+ sq ft of office space, showroom, break rooms, artist rooms, etc. Anyways, just wanted to get some suggestions on how I've began laying this shop out. I haven't put much thought into it yet so I know there's room for improvement. If anyone has the m&r tool send me a message and I'll email you the file so you can modify it. Thanks Danny

Amateur set up if I've ever seen one... ;)
Congrats man that looks awesome!

One thought, not sure what tag printer you have, if it is screen print or pad print. I personally would not put one where new clean items are. We have a screen print tag printer and there is screen storage, modified inks, the occasional rag, ect. While it can be kept clean, it just provides the possibility for a avoidable issue. It is also real nice to have a shop vac real close to a tag printer.
