I haven't heard much about this show. I couldn't make it, again. What did y'all think?
-
Mostly the same ole same ole as far as I could tell for our industry.... A few new players from europe with automatic reclaim machines, one of which I thought was pretty slick. Kiwo did not have their new cts there which I was hoping to check out. A bit more presence from hsa/waterbased ink companies which was nice to see some demo's of that.... But for the most part not a whole lot that was new, exciting, etc.... Mostly the same ole stuff
-
Did M&R have the new DTG machine?
-
Did M&R have the new DTG machine?
Yes, they've had it for quite some time now though...... I saw it at niles over a year ago.... Real similar machine to the i image ste but with cmyk+white capabilities

How about the MHM IQ Oval?
I saw it in their booth but did not bother looking at it. I would be wasting their time and my time to be totally honest. The day I'm laid to rest there will be blue blood on the inside of my coffin so it would be a waste of time spending any amount of time looking at machines that don't say m&r on them... ;)
But if your an mhm guy it def looked nice

Ill go ahead and start the popcorn.

That was not the intent or desire of my original post. I just asked what you all thought of the show. Andy, can you just stop this now? Sorry I tried to get some information. Geesh

Hey Dave! I can tell you that it was well attended from my perspective. I did not get a chance to walk around much as I was swamped with displaying and discussing the ImageStar Silicone line that we launched.
MagnaColours had their own booth this year printing water base on an M&R auto. Historically, they have worked our booth showing samples, but this year the decision was made to print on-site. It was a good idea!
We also had the Aeoon DTG in our booth. This think is a beast - 4000 lbs! The model displayed (KYO-8) is capable of 400 white garments per hour; 200 black for an image size of 8.2" x 11.6". Jump up to a 12 head (CMYK plus 8 white heads) and the speed doubles! Crazy fast. Obviously not cheap, but designed to compete against the Kornits of the world. Better print quality, ink cost and speed.
Hope you are well!!

Only went on Sat and was pulled into meetings so didn't really get as much time as I wanted on the floor.
Virus inks. Very impressed with the product they were printing with (Hydra and 120 E) and even more impressed with some of the samples they had up. Some really jaw dropping stuff there.
I liked the Kruzer press. Not for my shop really, I just like that there is one more strong entry level machine out there to raise the bar in the market. It's solid and simple.
The Sprint 3000 is really nice. Like Cadillac nice.
Nedco guys are the real deal. We just picked up a new folder/bagger.
I liked the fact that "bling" is pretty much dead. Last time I went to ISS a few years back it was booth after booth with stupid rhinestone machines. Ew.
There are a few machines out there that baffle me. (I won't mention any names) Stuff that I thought was terrible 20+ years ago. Like really, really bad press designs that are still built and sold for example. Still displayed at the show. It's like the AMC Eagle or Gremlin was still on the market...
Still not sold on LED exposure. Not for diazo or dual cure anyway. But it's promising and I like seeing the industry pull its self out of the 80's and 90's sometimes. :D
TOTALLY sold on CTS, as we have one and the guys at Douthitt are solid gents and great to talk to.

I haven't heard much about this show. I couldn't make it, again. What did y'all think?
Dave, here is my observation for what it is worth!
It looked very well attended, and people seemed to be in a fairly "upbeat" mood.
I looked up close at the "sabre" press In the Workhorse booth and was pleasantly surprised.
They as a company are really stepping up their game.
I liked Lawsons little two color press(automatic)
I like M&R's Stryker oval. A better designed press than their other ovals. Nice! It looked VERY
close to the ASKME brand from Taiwan.
I liked MHM's New Entry Level Press. A Really Nice Little Machine for the money.
And For My Beloved Sonny, The MHM Oval Looks Cool, But Useless as "tits on a bull"
The MHM Xtreme is Nice as well.
The Sroque machines are super nice! they have placed a lot of machines in a short time, by the
internet supply company. Go figure!
Saw the little Anatol Volt! it does what it does.
Brown Company is also steping up their game as well as Vastex! I was impressed by the amount
of people in their booth. They are really trying!
Action had a nice booth with "cool stuff" for Everybodys Equipment! Eric has worked hard!
Ink companies doing good some nice HSA inks, water base is coming back more mainstream. Plastisol
will still be around for years! Saw incredible HSA prints from Asia, printed on hand tables! WoW
All ink companies are saying the "new inks" are not curing/drying fast enough in most dryers at the
speeds printers are wanting to send thru the tunnel! a big problem in complaints from customers
wanting too much with too little. Not Enough Cure times in the tunnel, at correct temperatures
This leads to the "old idea" of Multi Level Dryers. Saw the New Adelco multi level and It looked Nice!
LED exposure units being made by everyone. They all look good, but I see NO giant differences
between the manufacturers. Everyone has copied the China machines from a couple of years ago.
All use China LEDs! Lots of DTG machines take your pick! they all look pretty cool.
I Heard a "Big" company is being sold! Congrats! Time to smell some roses.

Thanks guys. That's what I was wanting to see. I was just curious what I missed by not attending.

Rich said they had a great show. Maybe I'll go to one someday.

See Dave, it righted itself pretty well, :)

Fine work Andy. I didn't want to see it go south. Too much of that in my opinion. (as well as a few others I talk to)

You are right.. there wasn't much in the way of NEW and EXCITING.. but holy hell was their monumental improvements across the board from equipment to emulsion.
Every single booth was sold out, the show was overbooked and 12k people were there on Saturday. The Conferences were standing room only and the overall vibe was printers are wicked happy right now making tons of money.
I guess those blue blinders you have on clouded your vision to all of that.
that european reclaim system was a total piece of crap after we talked to the right people about it.

Pick me up on your way, Tony
SGIA is in ATL in Nov shld be able to swing that
-
Well if not being able to make it to the show floor because I had too many people to talk with is any indication, IT WAS A GREAT ISS SHOW.
I was at the show Thur thru Sat and only made it to the show floor about 2 hours total, and that time was spent with pre-show appointments.
Averaged over 80 people in my presentations and never ate a meal that did not have business conversation.
My apologies to the TSB members for missing the Friday night shindig at King's, I still have not figured out how to create 36 hours days while I am at an ISS show.
See ya in Atlantic City in March.

Was there some posts deleted or something? I'm confused about needing popcorn. PM me if it was too dramatic to speak of publicly.

The show was fantastic. Everyone I spoke to reported that it was the best show they had ever seen. The mood throughout the industry is excellent.
Our booth was swamped from 10 every morning at opening until almost 40 minutes after closing. Even Sunday was really busy. I can state with certainty that our industry is the strongest I've ever seen.
maybe a few older - old timers remember a better day but I sure can't. Speaking of which - Thank you Winston by the way for the nice props -JK :)
As I heard mentioned earlier there were numerous improvements by many companies to existing products. It is interesting that Ovals are getting more attention now. They are the best use of floor space and have so many advantages over round. Round obviously has advantages also but a really strong case can be made for consolidating floor space.
And the technology on the three ovals that I saw are absolutely jaw dropping. I still can't ever forget the Hydraulic Ovals that I knew like the back of my hand - what a difference 25 years makes.
I seriously think that the advancements made in this industry in the last 25 years is on pace or outpaces anything I have seen in other industries.

It only seemed that it was going to get off track, but as I said, it righted itself just fine with no interference.

It was mostly a joke. Hopefully sense of humor is still allowed.

So which one of you guys won a Kruzer?
-
So which one of you guys won a Kruzer?
Had no interest trying to build it since we just about never touch our manual now.
Hope some mom and pop shops that really needed them won them! cool contest to throw - bet M&R sold tons of Kruzers that weekend.
Most of our major equipment purchases are done. One thing I really liked was the Tajima T-MAR-KC, we only have a few single head machines right now and need a multi head soon but can't fit it in this building. A 6 head of that type is definitely on the list of needed equipment for right when we move.
-
So a BIG company is being sold???? Interesting.
-
Can't speak directly to this but there are indeed some interesting things developing in a few places. Not necessarily good interesting. Maybe scary interesting.
-
Another product I liked that we may buy is the SmartWasher. It was at the edge of the M&R setup, uses 'OzzyJuice' to clean your squeegees/floodbars/spatulas etc. Very green, hopefully economical as well.
If anyone has shop experience with that let me know!
-
Winston about summed it up but one observation about the classes. Noticed it last year but amazed how many would get up and leave part way through with a look of this doesn't apply to me or why do I need to know this.
-
Let's hear it...what big company is selling. If even a couple of you guys know I bet a lot more know so whats the big secret.

Perhaps it was not what they thought that they had signed up for, and had other things to do. Lotsa things, not so much time.

Doesn't affect hardly anyone on this board and those who know are raising eyebrows. Sorry Brandt there are possible legal repercussions among other things at stake.

I felt the same way from about second grade on. It wasn't until high school that I got up and left though...
-
my understanding is the SROQUE was sold last year. Is this what you are talking about?

Seriously, how many mattresses would you have to sell to by a company like that. Of course not they wouldn't even let him in the factory the second time he went over there.

I got a good laugh outta you the other night on FB with Fat Bobby. Good stuff man!

Fat Bobby has been quiet? Time for a come back! ;) Always get good laughs from him.

He's stirring the pot some in places, but nothing major yet.

Let's not get too hung up on old problems, at least not here, as this after all, was meant to be a shelter from that particular storm.
An innocent jab sometimes develpos into a bash fest, and then, here we go again.

Concur. Don't like to see the bashing, even if the bashee may deserve it.

outside of that, I am VERY excited to see where the industry is going. it's amazing how fast it has started moving over the past few years. I remember the 90's when anything we got was almost passed down from the offset world.
it's nice to see good competition out there.
-
I was a noob this year and had a good time, basically confirmed what I had read researched on the web, was nice to get scale of equipment and build quality.
That Virus booth samples were pretty amazing. M&r's booth was busy , kind of wish I had gone last year because with our dollar losing ground I can easily add 25% to the cost of anything I saw.
I was glad I went but don't really think I need to go back for a few years.
-

Well, even for those who aren't in the market for any new equipment, for many it's a matter of hanging for a few days with a few dozen friends otherwise limited to the internet.
Then, of course, there's always classes, seminars, dinner, and a check on the pulse of the industry in general, though, being in Ontario Canada, you may want to consider something on the East Coast or Midwest. ;)

Back on the improved aspect of things..
The latest news is that one of the Direct To Garment machines.. is now to fast for the dryer and they had to throttle it back.. :o
The Paradigm II was in full force and they had it running at 300 pcs per hour.
And lets not forget to mention the Brown FireFly dryer.. talk about inovative!! Holy hot seat batman.. a single dryer than can cure DTG, Plastisol and WB all at the same time.. yeah brown built that 8)
-
Show was pretty cool, the after going ons always seem to be my favorite!
I would like to thank Mr. Hoffman for dinner Friday night. A stand up gesture as usual, still appreciated none the less. Even if we were at the back "rebels" table ;D
It was awesome to see the ovals! Anyone know what the two pneumatics at the top of the head on head 4 were on the IQ oval? I was real excited to see this machine, but kinda let down by how it was displayed. The pneumatics that I mentioned looked totally jerry-rigged. The techs either did a poor job registering the press or this is just how it works, when a pallet would come over its location a pin pops up to register it. Well different pallet numbers had more of a final jerk(would move left to right as registering) than others. Seemed like the same number pallets were of the same distance, so it wasn't the pin being off. Probably doesn't effect the registration for printing as long as the pins are positioned properly, but still not something I expected to see.
Workhorse looks like they put their tablet interface on a Javelin. Which will let them get closer to the "entry level". Smart move. Their LED unit also looked nicely put together, and ridiculously competitively priced. I didn't get confirmation on what spectrum the unit was, but someone said multi spectrum.
It was interesting seeing the aaeon being moved/picked up by Nazdar. May be what they need to get moving. That being said, in b the dozen times I passed it it wasn't running...:o
Magna had a nice set up and it is nice to talk to knowledgeable people. Sounds like some of their products we tried in the past they have new and improved versions of now, and refer to the old ones as "garbage". Got them coming in this week so we will see!
There was a cool hoodie company there that had earphones built into their draw strings. Petty cool idea, but expensive! Can't remember the name of the top of my head, if anyone cares, pm me and I'll find it.
Didn't find it out at the show, a few days prior but still industry related. alphabroder is closing the WI warehouse. Not sure if that effects too many here, but a big hit for us.
Mark from Flying Colors in MI, almost got assassinated by a cinder block wall at 2am.
(http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/01/21/89d13190622a7a65de5b9fcdff64ad4d.jpg) he made it out OK. Well OK enough to have a few more beers;D
Good times had and good friends made!
