OK, were joining the bandwagon and ordered a Starlight.
I have read lots of good things so we are going to try.
I have to get used to burning 1 screen at a time since our current MH unit burns 2 at a time.

Doing one at a time will be so fast you will never even remember how you used to do it. Congratulations!

Thanks to you and Tim Foreman. I told him don't try and sell me a CTS, LOL.
-
I will say your getting a doggone fast exposing machine, had a chance to demo one in our shop, hope to get one one day when the budget right, congrats as well.

I wanted one so bad. But needed a press, new flash, exposure unit and dryer. So I went with the Vastex 47x31 until UV bulb. That will keep me burning pretty well!
Congrats on the purchase!

Starlight is one of the best investments we ever made! You will love it.

My fave piece in the shop! Worth every penny!

Unit in.
First, its crated like it can fall off a truck and not get damaged.
The only install was to put the stand together. The vacuum pump is a monster and heavy.
It doesn't take much to get going. We put a 180 with Chromablue 2/1 sharp side.
Set it for 7 seconds and done. Washout with powerwasher and perfect screen.
The vacuum drawdown was about 5 seconds. That large pump draws it down real fast.
We have a 3000watt MH and cant believe how fast this thing is.
We have the MH sold and thought maybe we should keep it. Glad its sold, cant see going back.
We will buy another unit instead of keeping the MH.
The computer is easy to use and understand.
This is 1 fantastic unit. This is the future, only now.
Good job M&R.

I wouldn't put that theory to test. ;)

I wouldn't either, but the point is they crate there products very well against damage.

forget those crazy long discharge exposures, that's a thing of the past once you have this. 8)

We got ours last week, still dialing in times but very happy with it.
What do you guys use for emulsion that will hold up to printing waterbased/discharge inks?
-
I remember thinking MH was one of the best things I did in our shop. Starlight was several factors above that. CTS of course trumps them both but I wouldn't live without either at this point.
-
We started our CTS and Starlight install today. All I have to say is it's incredible how fast exposures are, especially with no draw down.
Hard part is going to be dialing in the times.
-
to get our times dialed, we just taped the stouffer strip onto the screens... it holds good enough to get a good exposure time calc with just a bit of tape on each side.
-
We love ours, just got it about a month ago.
Dialed in around 0 vac and 4 sec expose for white mesh...can't even tape the film on as fast as it exposes.
-
What does the Starlight cost?
-
7k, almost double some competitors...but if you take a look at the competition...you'll see why. We went from halogen 8 minute exposure to approx 15 seconds with vac down time. Cost savings wise this machine pays for itself in our shop in a few months.
Not saying that they won't tremendously cut down exposure times...just probably won't do it as fast or have the same quality.
-
Zoo/Chris, did you ever get yours sorted out?
-
It's in the screen room awaiting exposure calibration and testing

After a month with this unit I must say it has worked perfect. We are still getting used to the speed of exposure since everything we burn is 12 seconds and less.
No problem with emulsion breakdown due to full exposure. M&R has built one fine unit.
