Welcome.
Long ago, at another forum in a galaxy far away, I used to often say "the board helps those who help themselves"
Even without asking questions, there is a lot of knowledge already here for the reading. Read a little each evening, and in no time you will go from knowing nothing to knowing just enough to get into trouble. That's when the fun starts. ;)

Welcome! As someone who knows nothing, I strongly encourage using the search feature before asking a specific question as there are 4 years of AWESOME information on a lot of topics. Topics are still rehashed often, and new info often comes to light as a result of those discussions, but the search feature is often faster and prevents repetitive threads.

Be warned that the search feature is a little weak, though with some fiddling, it can be useful. Not only vary search terms, but sometimes, trying in specific sections yields different results than on the main page.
For those new to a forum as well as the industry, I suggest just browsing and reading in a given section.

I have kinda noticed the search seems random and unrepeatable... But OMG, some really cool posts going on!!

You can always try Google, though I don't think it will pickup restricted subforums.
site:theshirtboard.com "search term" (just an illustrative example)
then you can refine the search by date etc. Google also supports boolean search, so you can do searches for stuff like "white" +wb|water based|discharge|dc which will search for white AND one of those terms (white wb, or white water based, or white discharge, or white dc) but will ensure white is in the search
