I have the manual version.  It's very well built and I'd recommend it for anyone who coats two-handed.  As someone who has coated one-handed their whole life, I just can't get into it.  I originally bought it for our screen guy who has a bad back, but he's no longer with the company.  I now have a new screen guy in training who will be learning to coat this week, so depending on his preference I'll likely have a barely used stand that I'd be happy to sell at a discount if you're interested.

i coat one hand, but we are coating most of our screens 2/2 now with the round edge, so after doing it for an hour or two my wrists are killing me! looking for a cheaper option until we are ready to buy the auto guy

I've always thought of coating screens as the most physically painful of all the processes in the shop. Wtf is with that?

We have a Saati, it's just a stand, mounts to the wall, manual flip, we like it.

I don't have one of these & have not used one, but after having an auto coater for a moth now I don't think I could ever go back. I will write up a better review in a different thread.

We bought the vastex Manuel screen stand. Works great and a lot easier to teach someone to coat.  I've coated 1 handed for 12 years and took a few times getting use to it.

i have the shortest guy in the shop coating, it's hilarious, he uses a step stool to coat on the table we built....for coating.  It's lower than a standard table.

i train everybody to coat one handed.  it's harder to get the hag of, but it's faster than fidgeting with screen position and your hand is always on the frame for faster rotating.

The semi-automatic one looks pretty amazing. If I wasn't a cap film user I'd get one in a second.

Mine is being delivered today I think it may be one of the first they have released, if it works anything like expected it will be well worth the money.

Pardon a bit of blatant self promotion but I think this works here, I am hosting a repeat of the 2013 PROScreen Professional Screen Making with SAATI Workshop at Mind's Eye on August 14-15, 2015.

Mark from Vastex has agreed to ship in his new C-1000 semi-auto coater  for demo use at the workshop. Still putting details together but if you want to get hands on experience you should be able to at the Workshop in August.

Vastex 1000 probably will land in a "Semi Auto Coater" category  as there is still a lot of operator interaction in the process.

I have been asked this twice now;  so I thought I would answer it on here in case anyone else was wondering...

The Vastex Semi Auto Coater will work with roller frames.

Definitely interested to hear some feedback.

after watching the youtube vid on this, a few slight modifications, this could be automated...now, to find the time to do the mods...

IMO this would be way more significant than back door engineering would allow, to keep the coater parallel to the screen with accuracy would require a much more robust platform.
