Title: Some advise needed for certain discharge ink colors
Post by: Rockers on June 04, 2015, 08:24:49 AM
We have a 7 color discharge coming up and we have to mix a few custom colors we never done as discharge.
There is brown which we never had the pleasure to do as discharge on blk tees, same for purple and a royal blue shade.
Now if someone would be so kind to point me in the right direction in terms of % of activator for those colors and what else to look out for, well that would be greatly appreciated.

mix up a hundred to two hundred grams or so of each color.

Set aside just enough to test with at 3% activator then 4%, 5% and 6%.  If the color will be printing wet on wet, make sure you use a blank screen to simulate the wet on wet aspect of the print sequence.

Test Test Test :)

Side note:  I have run 3% discharge up to 6% discharge between the same colors.  The biggest reason for change in activator amounts is the garment you are going on.  This is based on my limited experience with discharge.  Others here run far far more than I have and may have better nuanced reasoning.

This has also been my experience and what I have been told.... my understanding is you need more activator for heavier garments and less for thinner garments. We normally only print offer waterbased on higher end fashion style garments, like American Apparel, Next Level or Bella Canvas and I always only mix 4%.  Been thinking of going down to 3%.

You can use different amounts of activator to control the colors  tonal range as well.
