Title: Conversion Help
Post by: stitches4815 on September 22, 2011, 12:06:27 PM
I hope I am posting this in the right place.  I was sent a PDF file by a customer with their vectored artwork.  I am using Corel V.11 and when I try to import it I get an error "there was an internal filter error".  Any ideas of what the problem may be?

Thanks in advance

It is probably a compressed file from a new (CS5) Illustrator with some effects that Corel can not read.
Maybe, just a compressed file.

Thanks Dennis.  What are clipping masks?

Sounds like some sort of Adobe nonsense designed to look okay on the monitor, but give graphic reproduction a headache.  ;D

Thanks Dennis.  What are clipping masks?

Similar results to power clips

Now I am pulling my hair out.  I tried importing it into Corel and it is now say that it is corrupt.

It opened fine for me. I'm on my cell now, I will not be able to do it in next few hours.

Here, try this one. With CS3 and up, saved files opened by earlier versions would show a clipping mask that defines the page size. When I open one of them, the first thing I do is remove it, like I just did. Resaved as Coffeehound2.pdf.  Good luck...

Dennis' fix opened okay for me in CorelDRAW X4. You may have bite the bullet and spend $100 or whatever X3 can be had for nowadays. Still the single biggest version  improvement step in the CorelDRAW line.  v11 is getting pretty long in the tooth.

The original file opened in Reader. but most of it was missing in CorelDRAW.

Thanks Dennis and Steve.  I do appreciate your help, I got it to open.  Andy I agree, I have been nursing the old V.11 for too long.  I think I deserve to treat myself to an upgrade.
