Title: Opening Files?
Post by: 3Deep on October 27, 2015, 11:19:25 AM
I know I should know this, but what in the world are you all opening docx files with? both my Illy and Photoshop claim to to be able to open a docx file but don't 99% of the time.  We get art from schools in docx files which I hate :( even file opener don't work sometimes...any help I'll take.

That's the newer Word file I think, right? At any rate I only have Open Office. I believe it opens in Open Office and then I just select the graphic, copy, and paste it into my CorelDRAW.
But yeah I hate them too!

Any office since 2007 (8 years ago!) can open them, and open office.  Hell even google can open them.

This is probably the simplest solution if you don't have Office. Here's an article that describes that as well as 4 other methods:

We open them in Open Office then go into the print menu and save them as .pdf, something you can`t do via the normal "save as" function.

What he said, I forgot to tell you to save as .pdf. Then you can place it in Illustrator and "Flatten Transparency" or "Embed"...

I think you can also change the extension to .zip and then open it and find a folder within called "media" and it should have all the pictures. Only works with docx files though
