Title: So who else is ready for HOCKEY?!?!?!?!?!
Post by: mjrprint on October 06, 2011, 11:18:00 AM
The best time of year is here. Hockey season is just getting underway!

We sprang for a nice big TV last year, and my wife can now occasionally tolerate sports.
She does prefer the color in football, but has actually watched, (and gotten nervous and eventually disappointed)with  the Sharks with me. Go Sharks!

You all probably don't consider it hockey, but we have a USHL team here. Company has season tickets so I get to take my kids to a lot of games. We all love it

You guys are all "puckin crazy" except bimmridder and sometimes I am not so sure about him.
This sport needs a theme song I hear Hank Williams Jr might have some time on his hands this season, maybe he can cross another line in a new sport.
Sorry Bimm you have to be here , old Hank blew a 10 year SEEEEEET deal by linking our president to to some evil bastard that tried to level London about 60 years back.
Our football league (big bucks) dumped his bumm in a heart beat

So my boys the Flyers had a great night. Nothing like Boston having their little cup ceremony and then getting spanked haha. Looks like the Pens came out swinging to Jay. Hope you guys get Crosby back soon. Homer I think your Sabres are going to be a really good team this year. Excited to see what they can do. You did spend way to much for Leino though. He was an ok player here. We still thank you every game for Danny Briere haha.

. . . where is my flaming finger icon when I need it. . . loosing Danny AND Drury in the same year. . . . .this town was PISSED. . .the new owner said he doesn't care how much he spends, he's didn't buy the team to make money, if he wanted to make money, he would drill another oil well. he is and has been a HUGE Sabres fan, he only wants the cup - at any expense. .so we shall see how we do.

Devils? huh. . . they still a team? bwwwaaaaa. . .

Yea I can't believe you guys gave him up. Does Jersey still have a "team" I know they have Brodeur and Elias but thats not really a team haha. I heard talk and speculation about Phoenix maybe going to Quebec in 2-3 years. I think that would be a good move.

It doesn't jack one up like "Are You Ready for Some Football?, but many find this song captures the sport.

Yeah, bummer here (Bruins fan) but not too much really, there's a long way to go. I love hockey, I'll watch anyone play...

kovalchuk, Parise, Clarkson, Zajac, Zubrus, Greene, and a bunch of young kids who are looking promising. We don't have the biggest fan base, but we won the stanley cup 3 times in the last 15-18 years. And since the birth of the team only missed the playoffs a handful of times. I'd say we're a pretty damn good team... last year wasn't a good season, but it happens to every team eventually. Oh, and we beat the Flyers in 2000 and 2003 playoffs, advancing us to the Stanley cup. Everytime I go to a game, there is always the lone Rangers and Philly fan being a d!ck.. even when we're playing the Panthers!

martin brodeur - most NHL wins and shutouts. He is getting old though, gonna be sad to see him go.

But, with all do respect, the Flyers do have a good time, I just hate Philly.

It is tough being a Devils fan. Anyone South of Sayreville, NJ is a Flyers fan and most the people in the Northern Jersey area are Rangers fans lol. But I'm one of those passionate Jerseyites who loves where I'm from and take pride in the only Professional Jersey sports team... even though the Jets and Giants are really in Jersey lol and I don't count the Nets because I don't like basketball. Devils and Bruce Springsteen, thats what New Jersey does.. YEAHHHHH!

Whoops, I meant good team not good time lol.. but yeah, I think being dirty is a requirement for any philly team.

And yeah we still got Tallinder.

Hey hey now guys easy with the hate on my city there. I admit our fans are a bit raucous but thats just from being really passionate about our sports teams. The same ribbing we give everyone else gets dumped on our own players two fold. We aren't dirty anymore, all our dirt was traded this year haha.

I just watched that game last night. You guys looked good. Young team but Parise looks to be a good captain. Elias is still one of my favorite players and on my fantasy team, so I hope he does well lol. I am just glad we finally have a solid goalie. Never want to go through that bs from last year again!

They were booing at Crosby who was in the video, not the video itself.

Pens Caps is a pretty good game right now. I see Malkin is back. Bout time Crosby gets back... he's been out since last years winter classic.

Jake, I didn't want to jinx tonight's game with any gloating about Friday, but how about them Sharks, eh? I know that you didn't want to see it happen against your team, but, man, what a great way to break a losing streak, eh?

DUDE! I lost my voice watching that game. Why do we always blow it with 30 seconds left?! Good game though. I root for the sharks when they don't play the Devils. Lost again tonight, bleh.
Title: Re: So who else is ready for HOCKEY?!?!?!?!?!
Post by: Frog on October 23, 2011, 02:11:48 AM
Hey, I rarely get to see a whole game, but of course, that last period is what we want. I turn on the Bruins game tonight, and it's 2-0 Sharks, Then within less than two minutes, it's tied!
Sharks sneak in another, and it was pretty safe from there, though as you noted, those last thirty seconds with a lead can be agonizing.

So, two in a row. They're on a roll.

btw, I think that I heard that victory in NJ was the first since 2000. (which even playing there only every other year means something)

wow, really? Sharks are such a solid team. I love watching west coast hockey... its so much faster. I would of figured they beat the devils a bunch of times since 2000 but I guess not lol congrats!

The Sharks had beaten them but not in NJ

Nice I will have to watch that game on nhl gamecenter. Can't watch any Flyers games bc they black out your local team so I watch other teams while the Flyers arent on. Edmonton looks like a really good team. But Washington is the team to beat. If you get a chance watch a Ducks game and look at all the empty seats lol.

And the Ducks are often the proverbial thorn (not to be confused with Thorton) in the Sharks' side.

Another great game in goal last night by Bobrovsky. Hope some of you guys with teams that need goalies are watching him. I think we will sadly lose him next season bc he is WAY to good to be a backup to Bryzgalov.
