I've never used silicone based ink and I believe it's the thing to go to for sweatshirts with lots of polyester.
Can someone recommend a brand and give any other advice about using silicone?

I think the two big ones are nazdar or rutland.

In my testing I much preferred the rutland silicon ink

Just tried the Rutland.
It is recommended only for VERY smooth surfaces. I.e. Polyester. It has ZERO matte down characteristics. All silicone inks have Zero matte characteristics.
When printing the Rutland it is VERY reminiscent of XOLB 158 for how short bodied it is and how it LOVES to climb the squeegee.
Other than that, nice bright ink, very soft and flexible, awesome drape, also very expensive per gallon.

flashing every color is the turn off for me on silicone. Just used wilflex UB grey and print plasti on top, no problems on anything yet.

In the silicone world both Rutland and Dow performed well when I worked for Badger. Nearly every job was printed with silicone. Zero matte down characteristics is spot on. Also, once catalyzed, it would remain printable for up to 3 days if you kept it in the fridge when not on the press. It is expensive so mix wisely. We always ran it through 110 or 86. The barrier black would kill bleed through on sublimated poly. I can't stress this enough, keep the temp of the garment to 280. As an example, if you are printing a maroon poly performance t-shirt with white ink, you would print white, flash and print white again. No bleed through. I wouldn't print it again by choice because it is unforgiving. Very difficult to touch-up after the fact. My choice of ink on these garments would be barrier black in rutlands eko acrylic system with performance plastisol on top. Here is a link to the video I produced for Badger. That is not me in the video, but my old boss, Tom Lopina.
