Title: Heat Press
Post by: mpot on March 18, 2016, 10:53:09 PM
We are looking to purchase a new heat press. We mostly do numbers with the press. Any suggestions/recommendations on the brand??

Thanks,
Matt

I like George Knight and Insta, but there are other quality American made machines out there. Unlike the junky Chinese temptations available below $600, expect to pay from $1 to almost $2k for commercial quality, and spring for a 16"x20" if you can. You won't regret it.

After looking a bit, the one I like best so far is the Knight DK20S

You forgot the Korean machines, not only ugly looking but as well not working right out of the box.

If you run compressed air in your shop I would suggest to go for an air-operated press, especially if you do numbering on a regular basis.

I agree with the air-operated press.  It is one of the best purchases I made.

I can say that our Hotronix auto-open has made us a nice amount of money. I wouldn't be opposed to taking a GeoKinight for a spin though. Also being new to the trade, we have been very pleased with Stahl's tech support.

We have all 3 brands here, a Knight double hat press, a Hotronix older hat press and an Insta 16 x 20. All solid builds. About 10 years ago, we gave away a Knight that dated back to the '70's...

I presently own Gep Knight and Hix equipment......I have also owed Intsta and Hotronix in the past....All seem to function quite well.....My personal preference is my Geo Knight DK20.....If you are buying new it comes down to personal preference......If you are buying used any of these brands will serve you well....All should give you 20+ years of service....My Hix cap press is from the mid 70s and still runs fine....

Just bought a Hix auto-open. Love their stuff.
