Never heard of it. You need to consider the kind of service you plan on getting out of a cutter, and I've read more than one post about buyers whose primary consideration was cost, and who said they never realized how much they struggled with the cheap one was 'til they bought a decent one. I will say this, though. Cutters that use the grit roller method of advancing the material versus punched holes can use small offcut pieces of material since they don't need the holes along the border to feed. Graphtec cutters are an example.

I also see a kit offered which includes software.

I don't know if they all require proprietary software or if some cut straight out of Illustrator or CorelDRAW.

Most come with some kind of signmaking software, but the Graphtec ones come with an Illustrator plug-in, which is what I use. I think they have plug-ins for Corel, too.

After having a us cutter MH series and now a us cutter laserpoint, I am certainly ready for a "real" cutter.

Just use an X-acto blade and a steady hand...you'll do fine.  ;D

I would try and get a good used name brand.  There should be tons out there.  I have an ioline and I have been very pleased with it.  The mistakes are always my fault.  The only problem it has is it freezes sometimes about 10 seconds after you turn it on.  Restarting it fixes the problem.
