Pretty cool idea. I wonder what kind of ink they are using?

Rubbings of utility covers is a long standing art form and read correctly, rather than the mirrored image obtained using them as a printing plate like for the shirt.

For the true devotee, here are instructions on making your own crayons for this endeavor. (http://www.instructables.com/id/Sekkaboku-rubbing-crayon-creation/)

Oh, and when I was in school, tombstones were popular sources for rubbings, but don't try coating them with ink or paint to make shirts!
That would be plain rude.

Around here I'm pretty sure our police would tell you to stop or give you a fine, public safety would be there answer to ask you to stop.

Jeez, take a picture into Photoshop...

Kinda loses the "organic" effect and feeling of a rubbing or offset print from a less-than-perfect plate.

Have to ask.
Do you have to wait for a city steam roller to come along to apply the pressure?

Even in the old days I would have made the rub, then shoot to film... I guess today I would do the image, maybe stretch some screens by hand with staples using a nice 10XX fabric, LOL...

For that "one-of-a-kind shirt, you ink up the cover, slip on the shirt, and roll around

Seems a bit grungy to me, bum urine, and roadkill come to mind, totally would have to agree with dragging a pic into P/s.
