Triblend. (new to me) 8/10 RPM auto.
design is white and FLO orange.
i only have one flash at this time.
i ended up just printing white, flash and flo orange. i really think i needed ub white, flash, top white, flash, flo orange.
beyond sending them around twice (500 shirts front and back) is there anything else to be done to get around the press only once and have a solid white and a good base for the Flo orange ink??

Off the printing technique subject, but those rings are trademarked, (as is the word "Olympics" as the Redneck Games in Maine found out).
-
The photo you attached looks great, the white looks bright, but in person could be another story.
Since you only have 1 flash, I think you could get away with white base, flash, spot white then Flo Orange, maybe choke back the spot white since you are going to be stepping on it and you don't want the edges to blur out the Flo Orange.
Ideally you had another flash, or go around twice, but I think in this instance you could get away with stepping on the white, possibly use a poly white as it will puff up in the dryer and gain some opacity.

I personally would not run just one white under flourescent orange. I don't believe it will be bright enough to make the orange POP the way you want it to.
But it also depends on what your customer expects. Some shops are just fine with white base/flash/flou orange/highlite white. Some whould'nt even do the highlight white....
Personally I would bite the bullet and rotate the job. White base - flash - white base - flash - Orange.
In house, we would run two white bases and a highlite white to keep the edges clean and the print crisp and bright.
Do you happen to have a manual flash anywhere that you could sneak into your press?
-
don't some triblends discharge...that route would be easiest.
-
colin , that's exactly what I would do..2 rounds
-
Agreed, two rounds to do UB / F / full White / F / Orange; or maybe?? discharge UB, white, orange? if you tested..
Do you have access to another flash? I wonder if even a IR flash would work if put in the press.

i think this may be the *right* way to do it with these limitations. but that's 1000 shirts taking 2x as long to print. a second flash would pay for itself pretty quick...

i'm just the printer here. but thanks for the heads up, will delete the photo later if i remember.

we DO, might have to give that some consideration. not fast, but not as slow as going around 2Xs.

now that's a good idea!
there's a bunch of niggling factors that make it not do-able this time round (like a 4' electric dryer) but does anyone know off-hand if charcoal-black bella-canvas triblends discharge well?

Yes and no. Depends. If looking for soft hand and I'm assuming the customer is just HSA it. We are doing these on Thursday I'll post pics. Not this design obviously

Wow I`m really glad other shops would print it the same way as we would. I thought already we are the only ones who would run two flashes doing this sort of print. Even if it means we have to revolver it due to the lack of a second flash, which to be honest needs to be purchased very soon as these two color jobs are our bread and butter.

About the "I'm just the printer here..." comment, you are also liable. You can't say "I didn't know that" later on... we contract print copyrighted stuff on occasion, and the customer has a contract to show us, and some even have a separate contract for us, the printers, to let us print those copyrighted for one or two specific days. So, be careful, even though I don't think the rings copyright is too heavily guarded, as I see schools and charitable events using them frequently, and I'm betting they don't have official permission...

White, on a 100/55, flash, orange, put on the belt. If the white areas were larger we'd have to add a top white but I am about 99% sure we could one-hit the white on that design and as long as you have at least some opacity on the orange ink it would pop with just one layer of white. But if you don't have a 100/55, or a double beveled blade, or a good white ink, or some practice at doing one-hit stuff then revolver mode is probably your best bet.

A double beveled blade ..wow I forgot about those..
