I believe that is just cloud hosting for the fm app, not a web based app?

i believe this is correct. You log in to a VM.

Help me out here, what exactly does that mean as far as performance? We are running two locations and speed is a must.

It means you are logging into a virtual computer off site, and accessing it like it's a cloud based program.

From my recollection, it's like one step up from a gotomypc.com/team viewer.

Filemaker Server is used to host the database and can be accessed by FM clients over the internet. Performance limited only by connection speed/host quality.
