I need to remember to bring Gummy Bears or something to toss at the speakers during the conference.

(ooops, did I say that here?)

We are going, first time to an SGIA show. Former Vegas frequent flyer. Looking for some deals on equipment, daddy needs a new press.

Hey! Where is everyone staying? I'm late at making my reservations(only have a flight there for now) as usual. Never really had as many hotels "fully booked" as there seems to be now. While circus circus for $38/night sounds like a elegant trip, I'm slightly worried the high roller penny slots there may delay me from attending the show....  :P

We got deal out of Nashville. Roundtrip non-stop airfare 4 nights at the Rio for $475.

Think I am going to end up at Golden Nugget.  Can't beat Fremont Street for entertainment!

Went to school a few hours from Vegas and have stayed in pretty much every seedy, shitty, cheap hotel on or around the strip and downtown.  Circus Circus isn't (wasn't) the worst, but it's close!  Not a big fan of Luxor either.  I would probably stay away from New York, New York and Treasure Island too.  I'd rather stay somewhere like Casino Royale honestly if price is the biggest factor.  Great location and cheap drinks/games for after you've lost all your dough :D  I'm sure a bunch of the other ones we used to book aren't even around anymore.

Last time I went we got a ridiculous deal on a pair on suites in the MGM Signature towers, which were great.  Not the closest to center strip, but super nice rooms for the price.  Mirage is a pretty decent mid/low tier hotel too and great for poker (at least last time I went).  Stayed at the Wynn once and Cosmopolitan once and a few times at Bellagio as well, and you really can't go wrong with the top tier places if you don't mind spending a bit more.  If you're going with family, splurge on the room, but if you're going alone or with the guys I would spend as little as possible on the room since you really don't end up spending much time in it anyway.

Downtown is a lot of fun and a great deal usually, but having to shuttle back to your room drunk in the middle of the night from the strip can suck.

The cool thing at SGIA Vegas was.....

M&R new I-image with the led lights that go on when frame is square to tri loc position!  Pretty cool!  Also, there is a new tri-loc that also has led lights that come on when you have the corners of the screen pulled in correctly.  Just another way to make the system idiot proof.

Hopefully you overheard something in conversation one of those times you came by because I spent most of my time talking to people and it was fabulous. People really wanted information at their show as they weren't necessary there to buy, they wanted the information on the products so they could make better purchasing choices.

I'd rather have it go into the weekend (thursday -> saturday or sunday) than cut into our production week.  this middle of the week schedule was very difficult for us.

I understand that. But show up Sunday to Long Beach and you'll see what I mean. The entire hall is just watching playoff football.

SGIA is a worldwide show and its easier to make a business trip when you fly out monday morning and back home friday morning.

i always feel like this. but then i realize that most people going to this aren't necessarily the key people to production, or if they are, they have enough staff to be away for a bit.

next year will be different.  This year was tough as we lost our chief production person a few weeks before SGIA.

See you next year in New Orleans!

And that would be our fine city. After the show I will give tours of the finer bars in 9th and 7th Wards. The Quarter is alright but overpriced with way too many people anyway. Thinking about hosting a Shirt Board party at my friend's restaurant / bar.
