I had a request to change this one element of an existing logo I designed a year ago. Just an upper case "S".
Thing is, I only have, and can only find SimSun ExtB regular. No bold!
I can easily add a stroke, but would like to know how much to add to match the look of the actual bold version of the font.

Is this not the font? http://fontzone.net/font-details/simsun-extb (http://fontzone.net/font-details/simsun-extb)

That's what I have, but it doesn't look bold to me, and, unlike what the client told me, it does not "fatten up" when it's highlighted and control B is pressed (or the B button used in a graphics or word processing program)

This doesn't always work great, but have you tried the "faux bold" function in the character window in Photoshop? It will make any font bold, even if that font doesn't have a true bold version.

Yeah, thanks, but I don't think that they have that on my v7. LOL!
Besides, my plan with adding a stroke outline seems to have done the trick.
The custy sent me a jpg showing the "S" in bold, and by adding 3.4 pts to mine (at this particular size), it looks damn close to me. I, of course, actually superimposed mine on his while fiddling.
Now, whether his new version is nicer than my old is another issue. I really worked at that intertwined thing, and they even liked it at the time.
For that matter, this doesn't even stand alone but is merely the center of the design.
