Title: Who prints Spandex Leggins in house?
Post by: Itsa Little CrOoked on October 31, 2016, 12:25:50 PM
I don't want to do these very bad, but a regular custy (dance troupe) wants some black leggings. They've narrowed their choices to a black 90/10 Cotton/Spandex or a 95/5% version.

It'll wind up being 2 spot colors, I think, and oriented vertically.

Any ideas??

Thanks!
Stan

We print them manually using discharge ink on sleeve pallets or thin cardboard cut templates but they are definitely a PITA. I also limit them to one color since using even a little tack really makes them hard to remove from the board and can affect the print since they're so stretchy.

We're definitely not professional leggings printers by any means, but the customers have been happy.  And we charge accordingly, which has kept us happy as well.

Yeah. I think they are probably near the bottom of the list of stuff I want to do.

It seems like I spend so much time and effort (not to mention $$$!!) doing these oddball projects that my Internal, Built-in "BAD IDEA ALARM" is just not calibrated right anymore.

The office help comes to me and asks, "can we print on_____ this or that?" an awful lot.....when I'd rather just turn these jobs away before they ever come to my attention.

I'm hardwired to be a problem solver and that is both a good thing and a bad thing.

So my office manager's friend's 2nd cousin's Dance Team gets a silly-a**ed, wild hair wimmen's idea about how to print, scratch & sniff, invisible ink, glow in the dark, reflective, underwired unmentionables and somehow, it winds up at my desk.

What's the matter with me??!! I need a carefully administered Dope Slap.

I took the advice of most of the forum members here and told them NO.

I'm glad I did... but sorry for you, John. I'm a slow learner, but saying "No" isn't as hard as it used to be.
