Title: Question for anybody running M&R & Roq machines
Post by: shaneds on November 16, 2016, 07:56:58 PM
Does anybody know if you can run the same drum for both M&R and Roq from a CTS utilizing both the 3 point reg pallet systems from both MFG and still get accurate results on press?

Had the same question and the answer I received is:

At the moment the 3 pts are flipped from M&R to s.roque.  M&R up has the short side block out, toward the operator at the top left corner, S.roque has theirs in toward the center of the press, bottom right corner.

So technically no, you won't be bang on with the machine that's opposite to your CTS blocks.   You'll have to pick a press type to be regging to the exact points the cts is.   This may or may not change in the future.

Assuming that is the case, I think Action makes the pre-reg pallet. It wouldn't think it would be too difficult to have them mount the bracket in a different location.

I think the only difference is you have to print the sroq screens 180. So it would be somewhat of a mess having to plan which machine the job is going on. Not the best situation for high production.

I'm dealing with and learning about this right now.
We had to make a new template, flip the art, make measurements for 2331 2333 and 2536.. it's not easy..

Let's make it easy..
The simple answer is to remove material from the Roq screen holder to match the M&R.
The setup board for the Roq won't allow the pin the get under and around the top of the screen, make it so it can.

Take advantage of the way the Image is setup.. match your equipment to the DTS

Most of you have said he same thing:

This is not a M and R vs Roq question. It is a basic gemotry equation, the (3) points have to be the same three points in both locations.  (2) of the points have to be on a line (for squaring and line up purposes)  the (3) point is irrelevant as long as it is the same in both locations and not on the same
Plane as the other (2).  Using pin or cylinder against a cylinder frame (Newman roller) will result in the simplest/most accurate combination.

It's more about hitting the identical 3pts on each screen.  If you set up right and the dimensions of your screens are consistent you can run CTS for s.roque but use I tri loc on an M&R I believe and the screens should be square and center to the art board right?  Just not in perfect reg since the points of contact aren't the same.

Newman rollers are not contacted on the roller/tube they have corners that contact the reg blocks.   The corners are triple crowned however so getting the right points is essential.
