I am flying up to NY tomorrow and would like to only take a carry on bag. The question I have is I will need my Newton Meter, densitometer, donut probe and temp gun. Can I get these through security in a carry on?
-
Yes once you show them what you have, heck your right there at one of the worlds busiest airports
-
you should be fine with all those objects as none of them are sharp.
you may get some looks as you go through security, and maybe a extra special security screening, but you'll be ok. Worst case, leave extra time. you can always leave security and then check the bag.
(Of course, they'll probably give you the extra special security screening anyways)
-
You will be fine with those.

Just ask for a private room for the pat down :o

I always wonder why I have the urge to smoke after a screening. I just wish they would take me out on a date first.

And don't refer to it as a "temp gun" but rather a "non-contact thermometer"

I take those items with me almost everywhere I go.... In fact on one of my last trips I had a box knife in my pocket that I forgot was there and went right through security, nobody blinked an eye LOL..........

also NEVER ever talk about building the Bill Of Materials in acronym form while walking through the terminal. Don't ask me how I know this.
"Sir... did you say that you build a BOM on the plane?"

They miss stuff sometimes.
Before the last time I flew into Atlanta, I emptied out my "RANGE BAG" (wink, wink) for a carry on.
BAD BAD IDEA. By Range Bag, I of course mean shooting range bag and I guess I musta missed some live 9x19 rounds in a hidden pocket. Really DUMB. I could have missed my flight.
I discovered them at the hotel, after arrival at Ft Bragg, so TSA just didn't catch it.
When I packed up to head home, I eliminated that threat for the next trip through airport security.
The hotel maid got a few free factory 9mm loads when I left. I thought the trash can was a bad idea, so I just left them on the nightstand.
