Hey all,
What's the most cost effective way for inks for Epson 1400/1430 as a designated film printer.
All black inks? Black max? Is there a CISS?
We have been buying genuine epson cartridges for years but no doubt a better way right? What's best?
Cheers, Scott

For all black ink you need a rip.
Accurip would be the cheapest.
You can use any ciss.
I would get ink per liter like this one --> GO dMax 4 Pigment HD Ink
http://www.graphicsone.com/go-dmax-4-pigment-hd-ink-black.html (http://www.graphicsone.com/go-dmax-4-pigment-hd-ink-black.html)
With 1 liter an my printer I can print a minimum of 4 roll of 24" x 12000" easy, so on your A3 - R1400, I think it will be cost effective ^.^
Genuine epson cartbridges on R1400 for film output, cost you way more that that !

Yep, running accurip.
-
Would you use a ciss system with that? Or do you fill and reset chips on aftermarket cartridges?
-
For years I've used re-fill carts from www.inksupply.com (http://www.inksupply.com) with accurip. After a while you just know when it's time to refill.

I would go with ciss,

https://www.amazon.com/CISinks%C2%AE-Continuous-Supply-Artisan-CIS/dp/B00YBBDS4O/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1489653697&sr=8-4&keywords=R1400+CISS (https://www.amazon.com/CISinks%C2%AE-Continuous-Supply-Artisan-CIS/dp/B00YBBDS4O/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1489653697&sr=8-4&keywords=R1400+CISS)
refill cartridge, a pain, because there are so tiny, and you will get your hand dirty very often ;D

my normal obnoxious reply to everyone using 1400 series epsons (esp already using accurip) is get
4800 series epson (ebay, CL) $100-$600 range
take 4-ish hours to do a through cleaning on it (videos on Youtube)
CIS/refillable chipped tanks with chip resetter (I too the tanks route InkJetCarts.com)
7 tanks filled with head cleaning solution 1 tank with GOOD UV dye ink (Chromaline Accuink - Multicraft)
Cheap film (100x17" Imagestar E film from Nazdar)
If you print more than 5 sheets of film a day off a 1400 - this system will start SAVING you money within 6 MO of use, while also being easier (no sheets to load), better (way better deposit/dot), faster.
If you are buying ink from Epson, you'll save money in ONE month going this route.
Pair this with a decent FPU and you've got 9/10 of most CTS systems for pennies on the dollar.

I went through 3 1400's here, using AccuRIP, and wholeheartedly recommend using one channel to print with, and putting cleaning fluid in the other 5 carts... much better halftones, and the solids are fine. Of course, a better printer like a used 4800 (had one, was great, but went down, replaced with a 3800, still running, and also have the T3270)
