Whats the emulsion life of not open non diazo emulsion.? Also tell how you know the emulsion is bad?
-
Usually the manufacturer states the life span for each product.
How will you know, the emulsion gets thicker and thicker and takes longer to expose.
I am a small shop and use Chromaline CR-T which has 2 years shelf life. Not that it sits that long, but it helps when you know that you will be OK 6 months after opening.
Some shops use a gallon weekly, but for small shops emulsion with a long shelf life helps
-
A lot of it has to do with the conditions of storage as well.
STORAGE
Shelf life is 24 months when stored at room temperature.
Chroma/Tech® PL should not be stored at temperatures
above 80°F (27°C) or below 32°F (0°C). For best results,
Chroma/Tech® PL photopolymer direct emulsion should be
stored in its original container.
Protect from freezing. Chroma/Tech® PL is not freeze/thaw stable

Well frog, technically any temperature a room is room temperature.

I smell a T-shirt being made.

Well, if you read carefully, that only really applies to your shelves anyway. The actual emulsion has a more specific temperature range. ;)

Brad did you get that!!! Sir Frog posted twice ;D

Hah! by the time most will read your post, I will have removed the superfluous entry and your post will appear to be "fake news"! ;D

Thicker by thicker or like yogurt. My manufacture said if its mixture of thick and watery than its not usuable. Its pfxhv emulsion

Not sure how that one looks, I use Chromaline products since the day one.
My first gallon got a little "thicker", not as easy to pour, toward the end of the gallon.
But since I print more now, I do not have that issue.
Just make sure you keep it in the temp controlled room and you should be fine. Keep the lid closed tightly.

Thicker by thicker and longer to expose whan its old is there any way to back its orignal form?

Ok, for Murakami:
Diazo - unsensitized 1 year minimum, 2 years - It is Freeze/thaw-able. Once you mix in the diazo you have 4-6 weeks of optimum sensitivity. You can refrigerate to take to 2-3 months (seal lid tightly). Warm up before coating. Store below 80 degrees once sensitized. Coated screens, optimum sensitivity 2-3 weeks. Up to 4-6 weeks in climate controlled room of 35% humidity, below 80 degrees.
Dual Cures - same as diazo, except they cannot be frozen.
Pure Photopolymers - 1 year optimum sensitivity, unaffected by heat for those broiling in the desert or the south. It actually stays sensitive far longer, we only quote 1 year. Cannot be frozen
Diazo emulsions typically go bad due to heat, too much humidity, or age. Once the emulsion goes bad it will become more difficult to wash out image and edge quality can show saw toothing. As mentioned, the emulsion can also thicken, or develop thick lumps.

Thanks Alan. We have pure photopolymer high solid. Its thicker . Is ther any way to thinner ?.
