If I remember correctly, you should multiply the film lpi x 4 or 4.5 to get to the correct mesh to us.
Where can I find written info on this?

Dunno, but you are correct.

With that said, you can go with higher lpi on thin thread mesh since the thread interference is less - because of the thinner threads.

With both film and Direct to Screen I can hold down to ~ a 2% - 3% dot @ 60 lpi on a 225S mesh.  Much harder to do with a standard 230 mesh.

I will print this art at 60lpi on our 225S mesh to see how we do.


For me, I prefer to use 5 as the divider for sim process or (higher mesh counts). I'd rather use 55lpi on 300 mesh and assure that I will be holding the 2% dots as best I can.  55 doesn't look much worse or better than 65 in sim process or cmyk.



I may look at what I can do using 4 or 4.5 with low mesh. You can hold a 3% in a 30lpi much easier. :)
