The new trend of American flag designs that have totally altered the flag by inserting logos and such really rub me the wrong way. I was taught to respect the flag and all it stands for. Maybe it's because I'm getting older?
Thoughts?

Just don't think of it as an altered American flag, but rather as a new design paying homage to the old standard.

I'd agree. Although, I've not seen anything sounding like what you are describing, Anything positive about the flag is a good thing these days. There are too many things people are doing with the flag that are negative, to be fighting against how they use it in what someone intends as a positive way.
Some may see it as a form of idolizing of corporations and American greed while others feel it's a form of support and respect of those companies and America.

Hmmm, looking at what Stinkhorn posted I really don't see a problem, it's just a print plus all those companies are the life blood so to speak of America, maybe not everything is made here from those companies, but hell what is now days. Maybe I'm not getting the point, I've seen so many version's of the flag used for garments and different prints, but I will say it's always been some versionof the old stars and stripes.

Personally, I don't like screwing with the flag, even the "hip" one color versions that seem to be in vogue lately. It means a lot to me, but that's me, not you. After all, it's a free country still...

It's against flag etiquette. There was a political party office that used a campaign logo of a president in the blue field, or it may have been the candidates face. They came under some much deserved heat for that decision.
I don't like it. I never have. I don't mind it if it's really stylized though. like this:
