I think that we can expect prices to rise, and selection to fall.

Now I won't feel guilty going to their parties at ISS.

They throw a good party that is for sure.

Whoa.  This could be good or bad I suppose.   Wilflex/polyone has some serious ability to mfg consistent ink and that's always a nice thing to incorporate across product lines.

I will be a very sad man if they discontinue the WB99 series though, waaaaay to many in house formulae to let go of there.   Now I'm kinda paranoid.

There will end up being tweaks happening, we know this.....

What they are remains to be seen.

Conversely, Rutland has been having major production issues/ink batch consistency issues.... Hopefully this will induce a positive change.

Example, I have been using Rutland whites for almost 5 years now.  Most of you have heard me complain about white inks not being the same from batch to batch.  We just made a switch to One Stroke for our whites.  Consistent and repeatable = Win.

Hopefully good news. Really doesn't apply to our ink room but still curious to see what happens. Maybe this can help Rutland with their water base issues.

Chris I couldn't agree more. We will need to buy bulk in all the pigments if they decide to do something like that.

It will probably be better in the long run.

There might be consolidation between the lines over time.

And let's hope they don't suddenly pull the plug without notice like they did with their hsa.....

Nervous as I like the value of QCM.

Consolidation of an industry sector like this, on this scale NEVER pans out well for end users.

When I first heard of this a few weeks ago I was a bit in denial, but as Rutland was actually a "holding company" by a group of investors it makes sense, they ate up all the little guys than made a huge deal with the only one left. The problem will come when price increases are announced, across the board leaving nobody with viable alternatives.

However if your a small player in the ink business it could be good news as people look for more affordable alternatives. I used to sell Rutland inks and while the quality was great, the prices were unjustifiably high for small shops that never got the huge discounts that the big shops could get. Time will tell but I expect that in the coming year there will also be a major shakeup in who can be a distributor as well.

I don't think it will be good for us.     Market needs competition to keep prices in check.
