Title: Virus Inks WOW
Post by: Biverson on June 30, 2017, 10:52:02 AM
Came across a video yesterday of virus and WOW printing. Looks to be impressive, dry to the touch, and only need 1.5 minutes to cure. I've gotten some Virus discharge in the past and was less than impressed. Wasn't bright so I called Virus and they said to p/f/p, which defeats the purpose of discharge IMHO. I had better results with plasticharge.

Looks like Virus will also be at M&R in early July which I might go check out. My auto is getting installed next week, 7/8, and whatever I can do to reduce flashing I'm interested in. It may take longer to cure, but if I can flash and stack or just stack, it might be quicker in the long run.

Anyone have more experience or info with Virus?

it looks very, very interesting. WOW, no build up and no ink coming off, but printing at 300/hour and double stroking looked downright painful! OUCH!

they print much faster in production. Pallets were cold and this was just for video.

It is very very very impressive, I saw wow CMYK running on white underbase with no flash, just super cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65vghYtKMwQ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65vghYtKMwQ)

soooooooooooo, am I crazy, or was she putting her hand on the print right after the last station, and nothing was "wet to the touch", that's pretty freakin amazing if so!

Dry to the touch after printing ? No build-up on the screen ?..... yet it doesn't dry out in the screen (at least not quickly) ?
I'm not a water-base guy, but this would make me re-think that option.

It is dry to the touch directly after printing. I put my hand on every color directly after printing and there was no ink on my hand. Pretty amazing. The screens were left without printing for well over an hour at a time during the Fespa show and printed fine.

Any word on where to buy this? Last time I asked around about virus it was like the stock had dried up and they were shedding distributors etc...

When I got my discharge I got it from SPR. Now I see Atlas is carrying them and they're right up by me.

That's some Witch Craft if I ever saw. How the heck is it dry to the touch before going through the dryer?

Looks like it's a new series of their Hydra. I was wondering if there were any additives that were needed, like a catalyst, but says it's "ready to use." Seems too good to be true. I bet the price will be up there, but may be worth it in production time. There's also a WOW series of whites, an HC series for darks, as well as clear.

I had the exact same experience with thier discharge a few years ago when it first came over here and was all excited that I could put activated discharge back in the bucket... But yeah too good to be true.

Hopefully this stuff is the real deal. It does look like some sort of magic trick. I wonder if you can use any pigments with the WOW base?  ...I really love my GG pigs
