If anyone one is using either of these, what are your thoughts? They just came out with t-invoicer 4. I have been using t-invoicer 3 and dont like that you cant email from the program or save to pdf. It looks like they have that figured out.

I use t-works. This is my first pricing software so I'm new to all of this, but so far I like it. I've been saving the pdfs and email them to client just fine. I'm sure people who use more sophisticated programs would be able to tell you more of the flaws of t-works, but for right now it is working fine for me. I'm still fine tuning my pricing list.. having trouble figuring out how much to charge for the second print location, but other then that I like it. The reason I went for t-works is because it seemed that ever program I looked up had a monthly charge and I really didn't want that right now.
-
Yeah I like the $99 a year. Alot of other programs are $400+
-
i use priceit...I found they were the best fit for our company...and you can customize it and customer service is top notch...

Of course I might be a little bias, but I use T-Works Manager. ;) All the features you'll need, easy to use and without the ridiculous pricing.
To answer Nation03's question "having trouble figuring out how much to charge for the second print location":
Just check the gray "x" under the placement in the pricing tab for each placement you want on that line item, T-Works will automatically add the correct pricing.
-
I currently use T-works Manager and like it alot. I tried Price-it and it was a GREAT program but TOOO MUCH for me and my elementary school budget.
I have called Joe many many times and he has been very helpful.

How did they find out about that so fast? lol. I currently use T-Invoicer 3 that I bought off ebay. It works for simple invoicing and quoting but need to be able to email quotes and art etc etc within the program. Is this something that T-Works is capable of? Because I bought off of Ebay will I still qualify for the upgrade pricing?
-
Yes, T-Works can create estimates, work orders, art approvals , layout sheets (artwork mocked up on a t-shirt) , tech sheets & more and all can be emailed to the customer. The current version does not support emailing direct from the software but the new version we're releasing soon will. And yes, all owners of T-Invoicer 3 qualify for upgrade pricing whether bought off ebay or not!
here's a link for the upgrade:

Joe,
welcome to the board! And since we have your attention, would you mind clarifying the difference between your program and other packages out there?
I am very happy with T-Cal, and am not looking to switch, but can imagine that different members here have different requirements from the package. It would be nice to know what those differences are (beyond the pricing).
thanx,
pierre

So should I hold off until the new release because emailing direct from the program would be a huge plus!
-
I have been using it for a couple of months and like it. I'm still using my pricing spreadsheet to calculate costs, which I copy over to t-works manager. When I get a minute I'll start using the built in placement pricing. Joe responded fairly quick with my initial questions.
Before t-works I was using quickbooks + my pricing spreadsheet. I was having to copy each estimate/invoice so that the garments were displayed on each line item....very time consuming. Overlapping that trial I tried the iPhone app Ringitup. It was nice but wasn't made to make a lot of matrix calculations. It's plus was that I could make an estimate or invoice from anywhere and send it as a PDF, apply payments, etc.
I would love if t-works manager would be able to duplicate an estimate so that I could make a variation. Many times the customer asks for a option if they order a different quantity or garment. Kind of sucks to key everything again for a couple of basic changes. Export to mac quickbooks would be great, too.

From what I read t-works has no monthly or yearly subscription costs correct? I'm pretty sure you just buy the software license and thats it. That was the main selling point for me.
-
Pierre, Having not fully looked at all the other software packages out there, I don't think I could accurately compare features. However, from what I hear from my customers, the user interface is the best out there, very intuitive & easy to use. With the upcoming version nearing completion, I'll have to create a product comparison on the website and am confident will clearly separate us from the rest.

I'm telling my customers if they're buying now, the upgrade will be free.
-
Chris, glad you like it. Quickbooks support & duplicating orders will be in the next version for sure. I'd be interested in seeing how you use your spreadsheet to calculate pricing.

With the current version, there is no monthly or annual subscription costs, only that email tech support and free updates expire after one year and renewing is the cost of the upgrade.

Joe, first welcome to the forum.
Second, a question for you. I know that T-Works can run a lot or reports for you, but does it run a report for collected sales tax?
Also, if you have the TW manager, what is a benefit of having a Quick Books if you can run all of those reports on TW?
-
Welcome aboard Joe. :)
I'm getting close to purchasing TW-Manager, and I have a question on the price matrix. I'm still trying to figure out which of my two pricing schemes is most accurate for MY shop. Does TW calculate my prices for me based data I provide, such as overhead, fixed costs, payroll, and yada yada, yada, OR do I calculate my prices myself and enter them into the matrix?
-
Needs a Dongle.. :o
That's a deal breaker for me unless the new version does away with it.
Can someone explain to me why companies feel the need to force me to stick a peripheral device into my computer that allows me to use a program that in the case of it being lost or forgotten, as it must be removed from a laptop before it can be placed in the carry case.. renders said program completely useless when u need it most.
-
I do not have a dongle for the T-works Manager....
Joe emails you a code to copy/paste into the program.

Nice looking program. I like that it's mac compatible and I really like the in-built tech sheets, well done on that. I'd be more interested if this sucker was web-based though. We have a production and a retail site that are separate from each other but we may be interacting with clients at either spot. I use a web-based accounting system + google docs to handle the situation currently.
One major benefit for shops with more than 3-4 employees of having something like this web-based is that those tech sheet fields could be easily and accurately updated by having some tablets or cheapo netbooks at every station in the shop.
Does T-worksmanager have any sort of export function to make uploading to the accounting program an easy deal?

Good to know, right there on the pricing page it says this..
Single License
Includes USB Dongle
-
whats a 'dongle'?
-
whats a 'dongle'?
A flash drive-like device that mates with software to limit it to the one machine that has both installed.
-
I have T-Works Manager and the page said there was a dongle when I purchased last year. He sends you the license key, no dongle needed.
-
Just bought T-Invoicer , I'm not very impressed but then again it only cost 49.99. Had it for less than a day so well see...
-
We have used T-invoicer for years, works for us
-
I'm considering the T-works manager. However, I am seeing the newest Bodek pricing is from 2010? Also, after the first year can you still download the new vendor pricing? Or would you have to upgrade to have access to it? Also, is there any kind of a payables function?
Thanks!
-
I don't really use the vendor function, I just type in which product manually and plug in the price I paid. Had the program for a little over 2 months now and I love it.
-
T-Works Joe seems to have not been on in awhile. Id like to when the email invoices and art proofs from within the program will be available.
-
looks like they are in there....http://www.t-worksmanager.com/screenshots.html (http://www.t-worksmanager.com/screenshots.html)

But Joe said they are working on it to be able to email from within the program and not have to save to PDF and add as an attachment in your email program. A program I worked with in my previous career was able to shoot quotes over by a click of a button within the program which was really nice.

Sorry for just now getting back, haven't been on in a while! You'll need to calculate your pricing matrix yourself in the current version. In the next version there will be support for tracking overhead and calculating profit which will aid you in setting up pricing.

Yes, the reports you can generate in T-Works show the collected sales tax. Many business's run some type of shop management software that has accounting type functionality yet still use Quickbooks because that's what their accountant/bookkeeper wants to use and has always used.

Again, sorry for the late reply, but the dongle is no longer required.

Thanks for the compliments! I hear you about being web-based, but I also think that being web-based is a little over-rated as well. You can still operate T-Works over multiple locations with a static IP, which you can get free: http://www.no-ip.com/ (http://www.no-ip.com/) or for $29/yr at: http://dyn.com/dns/dyn-standard-dns/?via=run (http://dyn.com/dns/dyn-standard-dns/?via=run) ). I have customers with have multiple shop locations that do this every day.
I agree with you about low cost tablet support, in fact it's planned for 2012.

If you have an account and can send me the latest Bodek pricing in excel, I'll convert it for you and post it to the website. We also have tutorials and sample files available on the website to create your own vendor pricing files that can be imported into T-Works. About upgrades, for existing users you'll be able to download pricing after the first year, but that may change for new users after the new version is released.

Hmmmm... tell me more on this. So you install T-Works on one station, with a static IP (this is offered by my internet provider I believe) and then we can access that file from additional computers across town?
I agree that most web-based apps are over-rated in that they offer far less functionality but it seems attractive just for the instant network on demand effect a cloud app has. In our case though, we really almost need it due to the split locations.
-
Ones that have the software, did you get the CD back-up in the box with the purchase or it was just a download?

It was a download (no dongle needed). I received an e-mail with download instructions and key within minutes of making the payment.

With the multi-user version of T-Works, you can set your router to port forward Filemaker's network port (5003) to a specific IP Address from a remote location to connect to that remote network.

This is why I am such a fan of the cloud apps. ;)
But seriously, that almost makes sense even to a dumbass like myself. We would need filemaker on all machines then?

It sounds geeky, but it's pretty straightforward. Yes, the multi-user version of T-Works requires Filemaker Pro version 10 on each machine. Keep in mind, that doing this will not encrypt the data being sent across the internet. A VPN router would be required to encrypt the data between the two locations.
