ok lets start a new topic here. i posted earlier about if it was wise to invest in a spot cleaning gun instead of just using the c60 stuff that comes in an aerisol can.
i did find one that i am thinking about below any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Albatross/Expert SP3000 Cleaning Gun
3000 PSI Adjustable flow rate and nozzle.
SP3000 $149.00

I've been through a lot and the best one is from ZIM Chemical. It is the k-51 and they usually have a good sale running on it. I think I got mine for $129 with 12 quarts of acetone. Which I don't use it in, but I use acetone for other things like refinishing furniture , etc. So I still buy it.

the one i posted is on sale at Victory Factory
Albatross SP-3000 Gun plus 1 Gallon of SPIF2 Spot cleaner - Special $99.00

Some like the metal gun that goes by a few house brand names, we do very little spot cleaning and I've had 2 of the 'babs' guns crap out on me in short time due to bad threads on one of the components. With some encouragement, they took the first back and sent me another with the exact same issue. Not worth the time messing with them or the perceived savings in my opinion.
I picked up a CCI gun that's on it's way and I'm hoping this one lasts for us.
We use SPIF II by albatross. It's weird stuff, chemically speaking it appears to be non-flammable lighter fluid or something but it works and it seems to be the safest thing out there.
I wish we had a vent unit though, lots of advantages to having those if you do a lot of cleaning and a necessity if you're using the gnarly stuff in the gun (I believe I read an msds on some of that stuff, likely (hopefully?) phased out by now, but one of the side effects of using it without proper ventilation was literally death, right there on the sheet, yikes...) but I can't justify buying one when we use the oops gun so infrequently. It would be a massive help in avoiding halos and keeping the fluid right where you want it, not to mention the fluid we use smells like ass.

I had a CCI gun I used it for two shirts and the nozzle clogged, it was brand new. I tried to return it with no luck they said I must have not stored it properly, I just opened it! I tried to find a new nozzle and no one could locate one for me. Now it just sits and looks pretty totally useless to me. If you know where to get parts let me know, Oh it had no paper work with it either so no parts lists big thumbs down on CCI spot gun

I like ZIM spot guns. they seem to last and really get it done.

Just bought one yesterday from Miami screen supply for $60.00 Expert not sure of the model. The way my guys drop these things I cheap out on them.

the chemical that you are referring to is Methylene Chloride (aka Dichloromethane), a very toxic chemical.
below is a copy/paste from http://www.osha.gov/SLTC/methylenechloride/ (http://www.osha.gov/SLTC/methylenechloride/):
Hazard Recognition
Methylene chloride is a solvent which is used in many different types of work activities, such as paint stripping, polyurethane foam manufacturing, cleaning, and degreasing. Employees exposed to methylene chloride are at increased risk of developing cancer, adverse effects on the heart, central nervous system and liver, and skin or eye irritation. Exposure may occur through inhalation, by absorption through the skin, or through contact with the skin.

Not sure If it'll help by I bought nozzle for mine from Victory Factory screen supply , the damn thing cost 1/2 the price of a whole new gun.
-
that is what I like about the ZIM gun, the nozzle has no neck to it to get broken.
-
Though no gun is very happy being dropped, it's the extension that is especially weak on the Babs or whatever the metal handle gun is called, and yes, with nozzle, it's $29. Nozzle alone is $20

i ended up buying the albatros one with the liquid for 99.00 from victory factory.

I got tie up up with a phone call while I was trying to post, but YES get a spot gun they do come in handy...a buddy of mine showed me how to made a homemade exhuast works like a charm. He gave me a pc of 3 to 4 inch round galvanize pipe and I hooked up to a small wet/dry vac with a pc of old screen mesh tie around the top...I'll try to post a pic, it ain't pretty but works the same.

I'd be very very wary of putting aspirated flammable chems through a wet/dry or anything without a shielded motor.
Just me though.
Many, many guns are sold under many different names. I've seen a total of maybe
3 different actual guns in my time.

most of the chemicals are not flammable. try using a lighter when it comes out the end of the gun in a fine mist. even acetone is tough to light that way. it can be done, but it's tough....FLAMETHROWER!!!

You can get replacement parts for that style gun through performance screen supply. I think it's like 2 bux..

Been using the homemade exhaust for a few years now never had a problem with flames.

Got the CCI edition of our series of cheap-ass spot guns yesterday, looking forward to checking it out. It's simpler looking than the 'babs' one but still similar. If anyone needs replacement parts for one in the CCI style, it appears to be made be arrow. The one pictured in this link are a different, more like 'babs' model than the CCI gun but the replacement nozzle appears the same. $15 here.

My issue was always with the threaded part on the babs gun (on top of the unit) stripping out almost instantly, just a really obvious defect and nobody should be selling anything at any price that's defective out of the box. The CCI style one doesn't appear to have this part so I'm hoping to at least get a year out of it.
