Title: Customizing Sprint 2000 / 3000 lengths,
Post by: ffokazak on November 27, 2017, 08:04:22 PM
Hey guys,

Were tight for space...

Say I bought a dryer with a 12' heating section, can I just take off the 24" drone sections and run it with the 8' section?

Is it just as easy as that?

Thanks!

You can take off the additional drones easily enough but you should change the pulleys on the main blower to reduce the speed. The blower pulley is sized to keep the same pressure regardless of chamber length. Service can give you part numbers for belts and pulley as well as size. You will also have to purchase a shorter belt for the conveyor.

You cannot. You would need a different belt, which is expensive.

OK but if I'm spending 15-25 K on a new dryer that can fit in my limited space.. I don't think a new belt would really deter me...

Unless a new belt is 15-25K.

Dryer belts can be had for under $1000 for that size and smaller.  You do have to get the exact length correct though, that's the risky part of getting a custom one.

Or cut the existing one and have a new zipper sewn on...

(Edit)

You will need to use special thread. Kevlar I think?

Yeah if I was going to spend 1 K on it I would at least attempt to splice the old one...

Thats the screen printers code!

Macgyver the sh*t out of it first, and then buy a new on if that doesn't work.

Bad idea. If you want the belt to fit the first time order it from us off your serial number and we can build one for the dryer in an 8 ft. heat section mode. Your old belt could be stretched and you will waste your money and time.

The dryers have a bit of built in forgiveness with the roller adjustment... Why not take a 100$ shot at a 1k problem. Assuming the measurements are based on the middle position of the rollers, and the zipper is sewn pretty straight (there is a grid to follow)...

I've done it, and it worked out just fine.

You would want to just buy two belts. The new 3000 uses patriot belt. You wouldn't want to try to splice it.
