Title: fraternity / Greek printing
Post by: ericheartsu on January 25, 2018, 10:25:35 PM
for those of you that print frats/sorority/greek wear:

We just got asked by a customer if we would print for their sorority line. We do not have a license to print this type of stuff, but they have a license for the line. Do we need to pass on this?

Like Rick said.  If they have the license, you are good. Someone has to be the manufacturer for them. They can't require the manufacturer to have it also. That would be double dipping or like requiring a retail stir to have licensing also.  Seller, manufacturer, and retailer.

If (you) didn't want to have a middle guy, you could purchase the license yourself and come up with designs yourself, get them approved and sell online to end users or sell to retailers wholesale.

You may want to check with Affinity Gateway to make sure they have the license.  A lot of frat/sorority customers will claim to have a license when they do not.

Great idea, but a big bowl of NO THANK YOU!

They have to add you to their license with Affinity!  Letter went out to ALL license holders about this.   I hold a license and I got the letter.

Yep, I’ve run into exactly this a few times. Better safe than sorry.

Well, that's true. (They want to know who you are using). Way back, I had to provide a list of any manufacturer that I was using to produce,  but that manufacturer wasn't involved with the license and was not required to have the license itself, but to on my list of manufacturers. It was through me.
I was creating the designs, and having production done outside my business. I wasn't asked to have them be contacted or included. That was 15 years ago or more so a lot has changed so they may require the acutual manufacturer to hold a license also....but that is just stupid. Double dipping. Where does it end?
