Anyone using an auto press with an extra print head over the unload station? Looking to replace my Gauntlet 6/8 and wondering how much of a PIA it is to have a person unload a shirt with the extra print head at station 8. Obviously, there would not be a screen there, just side clamps and print arm. So you would have two operators not one. Specifically looking at Diamondback. It cost about $3000 to add the 7th head or $700 to pre wire the print arm for future use.
Thanks, Peter

Peter, I have a 8/7 anatol horizon with side clamps and its really not a big deal, and I don't thing it would be a big deal on a front to back clamp machine. Horizon Graphic has a vid on youtube with them unloading on a printhead pallet, looks like they were moving on just fine, and we have not had a problem doing it.

I just bought a used diamond back and had an extra printhead just for this. I may be selling the extra print arm and head, haven't decided yet. Are you interested if I do?

I did see the videos and the unloading of the shirts looked fine on the Anatol. But, many times when i print sweats on the Gauntlet, the smaller sized sweatshirts spandex waist bands will get stuck over the edge of the platen. When this happens i must reach down and pull them over the platen at the corners and then pull them off. Not sure if i could do that with the extra print head in the way. After looking at the prices of the new press, flash dryer and extra platens... i will maybe just go with the pre wire route. Hey Jester, i am not interested in the used print arm. Why do you want to sell it?

Peter,
There is a guru in Jax FL. He designed and built an extra head on a 6/8 Gauntlet for a customer of his. His name is Winston Strickland. His # is 904-343-0848. I am sure it is cheaper to add a head than buy a new press.

Thanks for all the info, but i am going new or slightly used if available. Looking at late winter/early spring install.

I just got this press in my shop yesterday and it's still in pieces. I may not want too. The people I got it from had bought it from got it from another printer and they never added the seventh head when they put it together. I believe the press is a 2007. Once I start putting it together I'll have to figure out if I will or not. I do most of the printing my self so it may be nice to just have an extra head.
