Title: Go to screens - Spot WOW
Post by: Maxie on October 26, 2018, 09:47:14 AM
At the moment I print WOW 150S White base, usually a double stroke, flash, roller then 220S for the rest of the colors.    Use mostly M3.
What are your go to screens, I am thinking of trying 220 for base and 305 for the top colors.

I think that's what most people are doing, the latter. Depending on our ink choice, i know that's typical for us. Especially for WOW HSA.

My standard depending on the detail in the base is 160-180 base and 230 top colors.. Standard sefar or saati mesh.. 70/90/70

I think I'll start trying the 280's for top colors.  Right now it's usually a 135 or 150 for the base and 225 for top.

i feel like 135 is really low for an UB. unless you're doing an HSA base.

In our shop, I have found that a double stroke of the 230S for base and a 230 standard mesh for top colors works great.

I used to use a 137 or 156 for the base, but found that I needed a much heavier top color to hide the texture of the heavier deposit.  (no roller here)
Also, the 230S base flashes way better than the heavier deposit of the lower mesh.

I would run 150s - 180s for base plates.  225s for top colors wow.  180s if the color was flashed.

Halftone/simprocess work is 225s base.

200 standard mesh, double stroke, Union Brite cotton white for UB
230 standard mesh, single stroke, Wilflex Rio top colors

If I have to use a LB, I'll use Wilflex Lava Perfect white through a 180 or 156.

I know, get S mesh.... Currently using Nortech screens and I pick through them at the Houston shop and only get the highest tension they have.

How about letting me know what your coating method is for your screens?  How many coats on each side and sharp or rounded edge of scoop coater?   I currently do a 2/1 round on 160/180, and 1/1 round on 200, and 2/1 sharp on 230.   Too much?

Brazos - Nortech offers thin thread.  Both Saati and Murakami.  Give them a call if you want more info.

I think you are coating just fine.  Its more about what kind of stencil you get from HOW you coat, than sharp Vs round side etc.  Everyone is different.

Will Nortech ship direct?  I think they only work thru dealers?  They do have the best screen racks out there for the money in addition.
