How long do you keep your squeegees and how do you know when it's time to change them?
Some of mine are really old.
-
We keep ours a long time since we sharpen them. Without a sharpener we used to flip them in the holders getting longer use with them when they were getting pretty dull testing with our finger tips.
-
I'd be interested in what the squeegee manufaturers would say.... how long? is the edge sharp enough....
-
Assuming sharpening maintenance, over the years I have seen two other conditions that signalled the end of the line. Depending on chemicals being used, the squeegees would eventually either soften or stiffen.
-
If you sharpen, and they stop taking an edge, there's a good clue. Too much chemical & time, and I've seen them just generate gummy boogers on the grinder. (And there's nothing like reaching for one you haven't used in a while and realizing the blade is sticky. That one's a goner!)

We usually start around 15" but the corners wear down a bit after a while. Sorry...couldn't resist!
