What’s your go to spatula and where can I buy them.
I see the Goop scoop advertised everywhere.
-
I honestly hate the plastic Goop Scoop. I like the bucket scoop from Spot Color Supply.

Those look good. I have always been used to cake spatulas but I can see how these may be better.

Here you go. These are the best period. They do not bend and last a long time

Rick, those spatulas look awesome! Never been a big fan of the plastic and the metal with hooks been harder for us to keep clean. Thanks for the heads up.
-
Assuming that these are not only for stirring ink, but applying it and removing it from the screen, I'd certainly round those corners a bit.
-
I'm also a fan of the cake icing spatulas. You can get them on amazon for like $4-6 bucks each. Not as much surface area so you can't glob as much ink on the screen at once, but they're super easy to clean, ideal for ink mixing, and the little bend they have makes carding ink off the screen easier in my opinion.

We use the 3" putty knives from lowes to scrape ink from screens and on press.. We round and steel wool the corners. In my opinion they get way more off before reclaim and easy to handle scraping ink on the fly. A ripped screen is very rare.

Not to hijack the thread but any suggestions for thinner water based inks? Right now I'm using dollar store silicon spatulas, seem to work alright.

Those look great! Cake spatula style has been my preference, but I've always disliked the fully-rounded ends. I could see these being a lot more efficient (albeit with some emery cloth/etc applied to the corners).

for water base inks we use the plastic version of the same but 4". I hope Eric OR Zoo City chime in they run a ton of water base.

Our printers like these also but there is a cost involved.

So a while ago you were able to buy the cake spatulas from the dollar store. I bought like 4 cases and haven't seen them since. You can get them from from restaurant supply places reasonably. Link below-

I've always preferred the angled ones, though I have no great source right now.
-
The company I linked to has those offset ones!

Those are flexible though.

Some are more so than others. I like i little bit of give when I scrape ink out, but too much makes stirring tough.

I like the angled ones as well. I get them on Amazon. I forgot the brand but I'll see if I can dig it up.
