As Fall comes and Thanksgiving approaches, many may appreciate this. Arlo Guthrie tells the true tale of a Thanksgiving gone wrong and then wrighted. It is very funny and thoughtful. Get the long version.
"You can get anything you want at Alice's restaurant" (Except for Alice)

I often quote "...8 x 10 glossy photo w/circles and arrows..." to refer to notes for those orders whose details shift hourly.

And the look on your face when you see the client who approved the mock ups come in with a seeing eye dog!

i saw arlo guthrie about a 15 years ago - it was at a small high school auditorium a few towns over. great concert.

He is regarded as an historic and cultural icon. The story telling is wonderfull. The long version is eighteen minutes but well worth it. Hopefully not one of last of his kind. You should hear it once a year. Here is to him, Officer Obie, and all the group W bench!

I listen to it every year on the way to the in-laws Thanksgiving morning. My wife hates it so I turn it up to drown her out. My kids tolerate it and me. I don't have a lot of traditions, but that is one.

Thanks Dave. Last year, as we were sitting on the deck, it struck me. The kids had never heard of it. They are older now so may they never will I thought. Then, one of the boys brought it up on the phone and plugged it in. We sat around the pool and waited for dinner. The laughter was contagious. Those are the best moments in life.

Walk right in it's around the back. Just a half a mile from the railroad track. Just be careful where you throw out the garbage!

A classic for sure.
And don't forget about the pickle......
A bit of a derail,
but his dad Woody Guthrie had these words to say (for all you guitar players out there ;) ) quote " if you're playing more than two chords, you're showing off" ::)

Then why are there 3 chords in "This Land is My Land"? Just sayin'

Had to listen. So many great quotes. From the bench:" I got a fifty dollar fine and had to pick up the garbage" I explained to officer Obie that this would be difficult with the handcuffs and all.

It does not matter where you live and your background. This is a great story to share, And yes, it is a true story. Comic and musical.

TP - Alice's is sweat 30 minute drive from home, sporty 1 lane road up the hill through the thick redwoods. Alice's is at the peak, once you pass the road meanders down to the Ocean with a couple other awesome way to spend the day with your gal. Impossible not to stop and check out the hundreds of motorcycles in the lot or at least sing the song as you drive by.... Iconic place indeed.

Sweet, maybe, but that's our Alice's in Woodside CA, rather than Arlo's in Springfield MA.

If you listen all the way, you might find a reference to the Vietnam War

According to the story, Alice never owned the restaurant. She lived in a Church nearby. They were just trying to help with the garbage and got caught up in the hippie culture of the time. Circles and arrows with a paragraph on the back of each page. This is a must listen! And read.
