Just wondering, if I threw out a line of a song lyric.... would it mean anything to anyone ??
This is quite abstract, so I suspect only a fan of this Midwest singer/songwriter will be familiar with this.
It has a Covid-19 angle to it.
The line is:
" Many years later, we found ourselves up in Canada. Trying to save our marriage and perhaps catch a few fish. Whichever seemed easier"

- He used to always wear a mustache..... but not the pencil thin type.
- He has survived a couple of bouts of cancer and is currently battling Covid19 (in ICU)
- He's Chicago's version of Bob Dylan.... more quirky... but truly loved by his fans.
- I'll post the song (that contains the lyric) on Monday.

You are correct sir.... John Prine is the artist and the song is "Lake Marie"
John's songs have always been of the storyteller style.
His 50 year career peaked about a year ago with the release of his album "The Tree of Forgiveness"
It would be a shame if Covid19 robbed him of him of his sunset years.... just after his fanbase tripled.

Although I was introduced to John Prine's music with Sam Stone and Illegal Smile, "Angel from Montgomery" became and remains my favorite song by him. My favortite version is as a duet with Bonnie Raitt, and here's a really recent version I found. To me, they both still sound great.
