Title: Embroidery on jacket with stretch
Post by: Frog on November 23, 2020, 11:28:43 AM
I have someone do my embroidery for me, and rely on her expertise. Nonetheless, I am wondering if any board members are experienced with garments like the Ogio OG725 Jacket. It lists a really high content of stretch in what I understand to be the outer shell, but merely poly for the lining. Is this correct, and how does that work?

A very complex issue. Much will depend on the stitch count and design.
A high stitch count will most likely pucker and pull. Additionally if the design has fill stitching you can almost bet on cupping and fabric distortion.
Even the thread used let alone the backing will come into play. Example rayon thread will react different than poly thread. Hooping comes into play also.
Seeing the logo would help however the dead give away is the product mentions a heat transfer branding instead of embroidery.
I no longer embroider but if I did I would not stitch this garment. It could work but it will take a bunch of finesse not fitness ::).

Ah, makes sense, and indeed, that would be what the job would be (and I assume, typical)

Magnet hoops and two layers of no show poly cut away is what I would do.
