I am sure i am like a lot of people here, what I eat is either leftovers or something I can make in the microwave or toaster oven. What are your favorite "make at the office" lunches?
I am trying some new ones from Trader Joes and I have to say, some are awesome!!
I am a big fan of the following:
Pork Masitas (trader joes)
Sausage & Pancakes on a stick (Sam's)
Green Curry Tuna (trader joes) it does need some rice though
Almost any of the PF changs skillet meals
Those are just some of the thing I try and stock here. What do you guys do?

today? half a grapefruit, 1/2 cup almonds, maybe snack on some cheerios throughout the day. egg whites for breakfast, little basil and cherry tomatoes and asiago cheese, slice of wheat bread = heaven. . .
lunch is usually a turkey wrap, salad, or some crap like that. . my food selections blow. . . . .I would love a slice of friggen pizza about now. . .
everyone brings in a lunch, the last guy we had working here went to 7-11 in our plaza and bought lunch there, it's like 8-10.00 for all the crap he would get. I couldn't swing that.

BJ's club has the healthy choice meals and other precooked stuff you can just throw in the microwave. They are really not gourmet, but quick, easy and edible. At about $4 per meal, it is a pretty good deal.
I gave up meat and animal products last year, so quick and easy is getting harder to find, but (also at BJ's) Black Bean Burgers and Garden Veggie Patties they sell in bulk are really delicious* (made by Morningstar and in green box or bag). I usually have some Uncle Ben's rice or frozen veggies with it. That is a healthy meal in about 5 microwave min and still under $4.

*they do not taste like burgers and you will be disappointed if expecting so, but they do taste great.

I love frozen burritos. the pricier ones are the best. Also you can get frozen hamburger patties that are fully cooked and can be heated up in the microwave. Recently I bought a George Foreman grill and it can cook little steaks, pork chops, etc. in like, 5 minutes.

I love these recommendations.
Pierre, look up a recipie for the Houston's Veggie Burger. It's outstanding. But first go eat at one of their restaurants and see what I am talking about...it's heaven. And yea, I can say that about a non-meat burger.
I am burned out on burritos. Maybe because I buy the cheap ones.
I try and keep some small pizzas in the freezer for the toaster oven, or I make Alton Brown's grilled pizza and bring some of that in. Bacon and dates are an awesome topping for those pizzas.

My taste in food has changed considerably since i was young. Back in high school I loved Big Macs, TV dinners, Hot Pockets, etc. but now I think all those are kinda gross...

what's the name of the restaurant? I can find the burger info, but no web page or name. . .

Second menu item. They are owned by Hillstone, my sister works for them and my wife used to, so I would eat there at a discount.

a can of soup $1.49 with a fresh roll $0.80 good stuff. I also love the 90 second uncle Ben's rice and an avacado with lime juice on it and the rice. Sometimes just broccoli and cucumbers. Now for the bad a microwave chicken strip in a burrito shell cheese BBQ sauce rice and sour cream. I also love Wendy's chili and a sm fry $3.50

I do leftovers. But some times I like to have Tyson's grilled and ready chicken breast chunks with Wishbones Buffalo ranch dressing, or a frozen pizza. But most of the time it is leftovers.
-
I think that anyone who has ever worked for someone else will agree that the best easy lunch is Pizza bought by the boss, just as donuts and danish make the first break.

bummer, they don't have one close by. I'll trade you something from Michael Symon (Iron chef from cleveland) for one of Houston's! I would imagine the shipping would be pretty darn expensive, but it might be worth a try. Interested?

Shipping would be a killer.
Next time you are rolling through the atl, let me know, I have a houstons 10 minutes from the shop. And THAT will teach to you swing by tony's place instead of mine. (I am sure his place was cooler).

sorry :'(
I promise to stop by next time! We were in a time crunch driving to New Orleans and did not have time to do anything else. I have been dreaming about going to the Atlanta Aquarium and checking out the whale sharks since before they got them. It was tough to be right there and not have the few min to go and check it out. The time was that tight.
I can even stop by and see Tony in Memphis and bring some Jack's BBQ ribs. How does that sound?

sounds good to me, you should get to the aquarium before the whale sharks croak. We haven't had a good record with them.
It's a really cool place to go...but, pack a lunch or buy the online passes that include lunch.
-
But microwave pizza sucks! I bought one once that said "traditional crispy crust" on the box and I don't know how they can legally say that, because that thing was like a sponge with ketchup on it!
-
The best microwave pizza I have had would be Tombstone. But the ones that come in a bag of like 10, personal sized.
-
...for my birthday back in November, my girlfriend set up a "swim with the whale sharks" event for us. Its hard to imagine the true size of those things until one of them bumps into you....lifted me about nine inches, like I wasnt even there!
-
There's a 3rd generation Italian market near me that has unbelievably good food, mostly made from scratch. I have no kids to feed or put through college, so I justify the cost that way. I spend maybe a dollar more than I would at Wendy's. I eat tons of leftovers at home though.

This is the fastest and best tasting lunch! In fact I think it is lunch time right now.

That press is nice and clean.. oh and the beer looks good to :P
I've always been one for light and easy lunches to keep me energized in the later parts of the day. Heavy and fast food just slows you down plus it makes you fat. Great lunch and power food is fresh veggies and white meat salads with fruit. Back it up with a large glass of water then relax for 5-10 mins before going back to work.
I've lost 50 lbs in the last 6 months or so.. stopped eating all but one real meal a day and salads for lunch.
Daily lunch is 2 cups of homemade chicken salad- salad with cucumber, onion, and cherry tomatoes with just enough ranch to wet the lettuce followed by an orange or apple with a large glass of water. Have an afternoon snack of celery and peanut butter then a fresh cooked dinner has me down to 195 right now 8)

I love making huge batches of soup, stew or chili in the crock-pot and freezing that. I know if I am having chili several days in a week, I will make some cornbread. Yumm.

A HyVe just opened close to the shop. They offer lunch specials everyday. $3.99.
They had a huge roast beef samwich, and 2 sides. You can pick from about 15 different sides.
I don't think they are making much on this, just bringing people in the door.
-
Peanut Butter & Jelly or Banana everyday for lunch. I don't need much variety lol.
-
HOTPOCKETS............ ;D

There is 5 or 6 of us that eat lunch together every day and we have a rotation of about 15 different places we go. Monday is always Chipotle so we can get napkins and utensils for the rest of the week. Chickfila, Taco Cabana, Taco Bueno, Whataburger, Smokey Mo's, Rudy's BBQ, Niki's Pizza & Pasta, and a few more that I can't remember right now. Once in a while I'll bring some leftovers if it's spaghetti or taco meat but for the most part, we go out as a group and get something and bring it back to the shop and turn the conference table into a lunch table.
