Would some one be willing to convert 2 PDF files to a corel 12 cdr? I know, I know, time to upgrade. I do have X5 coming tomorrow but this is a hot one that came in over the weekend. I need to get the films printed and screens burned. I really appreciate the help.
Thanks in advance,
Wade

send them to inkman @ logoitup . com

don't send them to him, I wouldn't trust him. ;)

Just to point out, that except for sensitive designs which you don't want publicly accessible (and the size restraints), pdf's can be attached and posted here.

Depending on what you have, I could probably do it for you this evening...

Just for the Halibut. I just dusted off and fired up my v12, and both imported and opened numerous pdf's with the only problem being fonts which were not converted.
What result are you getting?
-
it was a bitmap in one of them.
my favorite thing to do is place the pdf in AI and then copy and paste it into corel with the AI clipboard macro on Oberon's site.

I am getting a "There was an internal filter error". I just figure that the version I am using is the culprit. I can open most PDF's but I get some where I can't. So I broke down and got X5, which should be here today.
-
you will like 12 better. I have X5 and hate it.

The version of Corel you have may not make any difference....If the pdf was not made by Corel it could have incompatibility issues....PDF is way to transport a file but it is not a real file format like ai. or cdr. Same goes with eps.....

Especially if it was created on a Mac. PDF's can cross platforms OK, but they need to be tweaked. Many times artists have the attitude that you should be able to use what they sent and can be uncooperative in making revisions to the file.

Prepare for battle with our friend from the great white north! He has a very different take on who should accommodate whom. ;D

I guess my question would, why do these files open ok in a newer version of corel and not an older version?

Apparently, later versions have different filters to address some of these issues. There are pdf's, and there are pdf's. They are not all created equal.

I understand that now. That is why I broke down and got X5. In two years I will probably have to buy X8 because the X5 is so outdated.

I created a PDF for a customer to open in AI Macintosh... I did the illustration in Corel and saved it as a Mac AI file. We had to go back and forth three times to fix some minor problems, but in the end she got exactly what she needed. Problems can be solved with cooperation and a little patience, but many people are too quick to say "Nothing's wrong with it. Your problem, figure it out..."

And I am sure every new version of Illustrator tweaks their code to defeat anything Corel does in their last upgrade.....I can not imagine the Adobe wants to allow Corel to open their native files....
