Hello All,
John here from DC Shirt & Print, here in our nation's capital.
We have been running Epson 1400s (accurip) with bulk ink for some time.
When the 'saturation pad' becomes full, and the dreaded lights start blinking,
we remove our bulk ink cartridges and literally toss then machine. We have NEW un-boxed 1400s
on hand for this type of scenario.. I have tired of this.
So, with Monday morning right around the corner, and credit card in hand, I have
a mission critical OUTPUT DEVICE decision to make before 8 AM. 17" output is the call.
NEXT DAY air situation here.
Black Max? Epson 4800? 4900? I have been scouring for information, but its a lot
to process.. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Chip resetters? Not sure how this works.
I will post the results of the purchase tomorrow.
And.. for anyone from this forum who visits DC, I have the COLDEST BEERS waiting
for you.. Doesn't matter if you are REPUBLICAN or DEMOCRAT. The beer will still be cold...

John, I have absolutely nothing to contribute on your printer subject, but will warn you that previous mention has been made right here at TSB, that coldness is merely a method to make poor beer palatable.
Now, I, personally like a cold one, as evidenced by my post, which received that response, which was about chilling cans quickly, but this is just a warning that you may spark a debate!. We have more than a few beer drinkers here I understand. ;D

It took a long time and trial and error to get a film output we were happy with.
We have an Epson 4800 a 4880 would work as well.
We buy 17X100 waterproof rolls of film from here.

This is the ink system we use. So awesome! No clogs, WAY cheaper than getting over ink.

I think the only way we could be happier is if we had a direct to screen.

Finally bit you in the ass eh?
As for the OP, theres a DL code to get that light from blinking your printer back to printing. Also I soak up ink out of those pads with a rag from time to time. Search my posts for the post I made that contains the link to that code DL.

Well, for starters, mentioning cans, chilled or not, raises questions, allowing that severe necessity does sometimes excuse the use of a can. Exception granted to the Murphy's Stout I have in my fridge at the moment, which with the nitrogen widget, produces a head like meringue.

Indeed. To the OP, invest in a 4800/4880 and never look back. It's a trouble free work horse of a printer. I've been slamming films out on my 4880 for the past 2 years with zero problems.

We are identical to ink brigade/Jamie. We also have a 1400 as backup.
@tpitman- I used to sound just like you and then my favorite brewery started canning. done right it is the jam, believe it or not. We spend a lot of river time out here so cans are choice there.
@someone else- They make a 4900?

Yeah, but don't trust canned beer from a vending machine...it was terrible.

you cant get 4880s anymore, you can only get the 4900. I have had mine for about 6 months.

someone posted awhile back how the 4900 wasn't the best choice for films due to the new inks it uses and they can't run all black carts in them.

true on the ink cartridges at this moment, but all blacks are coming.

We only run one black in our 4800. And it works great. The other cartridges are filled with cleaning solution.
