My epson 4880 is dropping ink blobs on my film where no ink blobs should be. There seems to be more near the edge of the film, but there are blobs in the middle too. Everything was fine until I changed the film roll. Actually, the first print I made after the roll was changed was perfect. Second print had the blobs. I've tried a couple more prints and they had blobs too. Also, when I tried to print the second print after the roll change, it said 'paper not straight', so i messed around with the roll until it would print. Not sure if this had something to do with the problem? I would like to know how to make it stop blobbing preferably without running a head cleaning as that is a HUGE ink waster; but all help is appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance.

can you take a picture? We have several inkjet experts here and it would be easier to get some answers if they could see what's going on.
Also, is the film brand the same as before? What about the ink? Which RIP are you using?

I hope I didn't catch this too late
I had the same problem with my 7880. Ended up needing a new print head. The capping station is probably dirty, not allowing a good seal, which lets air into the print head. Clean the capping station with those non cotton swabs. Make sure the station is really clean/dry before turning your printer back on or you may blow a main board. When it turns on, issue a head cleaning. Now that it's clean, it will allow for the head and capping station to create a better suction.
