OK, I read somewhere that a guy printed clorox toilet bowl gel as his discharge base and it works. I thought it was a joke, and then I read on another message board where another guy was doing the same thing. Anyone know about this?

Why wouldn't bleach make a "whitish image". They've used it on jeans for purpose, and who hasn't screwed up a pair or a shirt themselves?
We talked about it back on TSPMB a few years back, just with a thick bleach, maybe this stuff.

Make a tough stencil!

I asked my wife about clorox gel and she showed it to me at walmart, its a blue gel used to clean toilets. It might work.

How do you stop the bleach from eating the fabric. Raw bleach on jeans destroys the cotton. Does flashing it stop the bleaching action or something?
-
I'd throw the shirt in a container of water.

This reminds me of people trying to make their own emulsion.

I've done it, it just bleached the shirt, nothing special. . .makes black turn brown. . . . I've also printed with melted chocolate on top of rice crispy treats. . that's was badass.

a sample of those rice crispies would be badass!

Homer, Is the Gel diluted and a lot weaker than regular bleach?

My buddy is from Honduras and his brother-in-law has a LARGE shop out there and they make their own emulsion (or at least did at one point... from him telling me how big his shop is I have a hard time believing that they are half assing it now.

I remember it working rather well, this was about 4 years ago. You can also use regular bleach and a gelatin - like non flavored jello for a thickening powder. . I'm not saying do this because it is pretty stupid -but if you want to mess around with stuff, there ya go. ketchup, mustard -they always leave a stain. . mud. . . . .I liked printing with chocolate the best -that was a challenge. . .got to eat the mistakes.

I,m thinking you can just about print anything that will filter thru your screens might work might not.
@ Homer hey how about printing chocolate on some edible panties....hey that gives me a idea I live about 5 miles from a strip club might have to see if I can do some work for them.

I'm telling your wife. . my wife makes cakes on the side, my sister in law makes cookie baskets and such, for this Christmas I want to have her make baskets for my top 10 customers, I'll screen up some cookies with their logos on it. . .in my spare time haha. . .
-
HA HA told her already lol.... how do you screen the cookies is there a certain screen or something you have to use?
-
Printing cookies sounds like way too much fun...
It does work though--Frog's right on--you stick it in a tub of water to stop the reaction, and you work fast, because as soon as you load "ink", you're reclaiming the screen.
And it's not white, as mentioned, it's more of a 'natural' look. Using gelatin or cornstarch is a lot cheaper than using the toilet crap--and you can make stuff that actually prints OK.
I suppose chocolate would be fun though too-- keep some cocoa and melted butter around to fine tune the viscosity... ;)

To battle the homemade reclaim liquid effect, use screen hardener on your WR emulsion. It comes in two strengths.
If the run is long enough to sacrifice the screen itself with the permanent hardener, use the proper ink! ;D
Then again, for someone without sufficient drying power for real discharge, even a few bucks worth of mesh could be an acceptable sacrifice.
