Title: How do you clean your bobbin area?
Post by: Gilligan on March 29, 2012, 01:08:52 PM: Specifically on a PR-650 if you can but in general works as well.

I'm talking about where the bobbin goes in the machine. All the trims and lint pile up in there and I was told (by a not so educated "trainer" not to use canned air).

What should I do then?

we use a blast from the air compressor. it's easier.

The lady was CLEARLY not qualified... hell she told me the little "thread bumper" piece that goes behind the needles (which does more harm than good) was my "camera".

The PR-1000 has a camera, not the 650... and it looks nothing like that.

That some funny stuff considering canned air is advertised for cleaning electronics, yep qualified she was not.

Post by: mooseman on March 29, 2012, 06:37:39 PM: air, oil, brush, vacuum whatever .....you can't hut it with air & oil. the more important issue is to clean often and oil every 4-6 hours of operation. Another important point clean the air intakes on your power unit . you will be surprised how clogged with lint they get closing off the cooling air.

That's probably "special" air in that can. ;)

Post by: stitches4815 on March 31, 2012, 09:26:42 PM: Seriously, we use canned air (normal canned air that you can purchase at Walmart) on our machine. It is recommended by Tajima to use it. There are areas a brush can't get into to clean.

Post by: shellyky on April 16, 2012, 09:52:24 AM: brush out the big stuff, then canned air...i was told not to use canned air as well--their reason being, it shoves the threads up into crevasses that it shouldn't be in....so i just take the effort not to aim it into those areas...
