We got a 4880 for 650. Like new. Watch used. Heads that have not been run, dampers, cap station cost a bunch. Came across a 4000 sitting a year. maybe good maybe bad. gotta see em run. Craigs list. 1500 for a 7 series as well.

Patience. Epson also has regular rebates. You can get under 2k for a 4900 new

$250 on the 3880, and $500 rebate on the 4900 right now.  (And for those looking smaller, $80 on the 1430)

4900 is a great machine, its what I use everyday.  Heres the bad news, they dont make a stand like they did for the previous model and its to big for a regular table, second you CAN NOT SUBSTITUTE AND OFF BRAND INKS, LIKE CLEARS INSTEAD OF THE CMY, AND TO MY KNOWLEDGE NO ONE IS MAKING THEM NOW OR IN THE FUTURE.  I did only pay $1200 new.  Just watch for the rebate.

Try the Canon 605, a 24" printer, but only has 6 inks, unlike the epson's which have 12. It also gives very dense black blacks.  Good price too.
